Hi folks,

With President Trump making most of the headlines this week, it seems appropriate to cover his presence at the D-Day Landings commemoration in Portsmouth yesterday.

We hope that the coverage today will reach more people than ever, giving them a valuable chance to gain more understanding of the Normandy Campaign, which marked the turning point of the Second World War.

75 years ago today, the first troops – from Canada, the UK and USA – landed on five Normandy beaches. They suffered heavy losses but ultimately succeeded in pushing back the Nazi forces and starting the push towards Berlin. Some of those heroes will be present at ceremonies today and we hope to see them getting plenty of column inches .

Joke: Fishing

It was raining hard and a big puddle had formed in front of a pub.

An old man stood beside the puddle holding a stick with a string on the end and jiggled it up and down in the water. A curious gentleman asked what he was doing.

"Fishing," replied the old man.

"Poor old fool," thought the gentleman. So he invited the old man to have a drink in the pub.

Feeling he should start some conversation while they were sipping their whisky, the gentleman asked, "And how many have you caught?"

"You're the eighth."
