Newsletter – 8 April 2021
April 8, 2021 Newsletter
Last week saw the formation of the UK’s Space Command on 1 April. Easy to write this off as an April Fool but it actually looks pretty interesting. This at a time when ground troop numbers are being cut to record lows is an interesting move – as always we will keep a close eye on how it turns out.
A National Insurance contributions holiday for businesses who employ Armed Forces veterans comes into force with the new financial year and could be great news for ex-mil job seekers. Watch an interview with Johnny Mercer here.
We hope this doesn't apply to many of you but an interesting piece for veterans who may be concerned about exposure to asbestos was published this week.
Elsewhere, last week we saw a welcome break from the constant churn of news with April Fool's Day. There's a round-up of some of the best here.
Finally, with things generally picking up in the job market, we've got lots of roles on offer, so please log in and check your details on our site to make sure they are up to date and don't forget that there is lots of advice and support on our blog.
Please drop an email to [email protected] if there's anything you'd like us to add to this newsletter.

Joke: Good news
A man just finishes his LASIK eye surgery and his surgeon leads him in his office to discuss the surgery.
"So, would you like the good news or the bad news first?" the surgeon says.
The man excitedly replies, "I'll take the good news first!"
The surgeon says, "Well, you're about to get a new dog."
If you've got a joke you'd like to suggest for this newsletter, just send them in — email us at: [email protected]
