My client, who is involved in the operation, conversion and outfitting of geophysical survey vessels and similar projects within the marine environment is urgently seeking a Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager. The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running and must be available by the end of the Christmas / New Year period at the latest.

Function
• Responsible for all of the policies, practices and operations for the Health, Safety and Environmental functions within Company operations.
• Ensure that all Company HSSE policies and procedures are communicated, understood and adhered to at all Company locations, including onshore and offshore sites, to work towards a goal of zero harm to people, the environment and equipment.
• Promote and develop a strong safety culture orientated towards continuous improvement and reinforce HSE leadership from key Company staff.

Job Qualification Requirements
• College or Higher degree, preferably in a technical discipline (essential);
• Certification in safety management (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent);
• Auditing Techniques (ISM Internal Auditor or equivalent);
• Certification in quality management (desirable);
• Must be able to undertake and successfully complete Basic Offshore Survival Training (including Helicopter Underwater Escape) and UKOOA Offshore Medical.

Job Experience
• Essential: Two to five years’ recent experience in an HSSE role within the marine environment.
• Desirable: Experience specifically within the seismic surveying sector.

Competence Requirements
• General knowledge and experience on seismic surveying practices and technology;
• Ability to implement HSSE Policies and associated Management Systems;
• Able to provide detailed audit reports, with relevant required preventative and corrective actions;
• Effective interpersonal skills including effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to provide leadership, teamwork and proactive approach;
• Creativity, autonomy, flexibility, adaptability and rigor;
• Willing to travel;
• Organisational, documentation and technical writing skills;
• Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Job Description, Responsibilities and Activities
• Ensure health, safety, security and environmental working conditions are followed at all times.
• Implement policies, procedures and systems to provide for a safe and secure business operation.
• Enforce safe working practices and ensure lost time incidents are kept to a minimum.
• Drive and maintain the Company’s global HSSE reputation.
• Apply the overall Company’s standards and guidelines on HSSE.
• Perform regular audits and monitor HSSE performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure that appropriate corrective or preventative actions are taken, including follow-up reviews.
• Own, control and continuously improve the Company’s Safety Management Systems.
• Coordinate preparation of statistics pertaining to Company HSSE activity for use by Company personnel and outside agencies.
• Lead any necessary accident/incident investigation and reporting.
• Ensure that all safety and environmental issues are managed fulfilling the requirements of all the regulations applicable by international standards (as regulated by the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) and International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) and National laws as appropriate.
• Ensure that emergencies are handled fulfilling the requirements of the regulations applicable nationally and internationally.
• In liaison with Company personnel, ensure that Emergency Response plans are in place and regularly checked and tested to confirm validity and that local Emergency Response Teams are operational at all times.

QHSSE
• Both a lead role and active participation in the on-going development and company-wide participation in and engagement of the WGP QHSSE system, including establishing policy and objectives.
• Chair QHSSE Meetings, use of Observation Card system, correct use of PPE.

Reporting
• The HSSE Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

Employment Conditions
The role will primarily be based in the UK Head Office in North Cornwall, with office hours on a nominal 0900 to 1730hrs / 37.5hrs per week basis, or such other hours that are necessary to fulfil the functions of the role.
Regular worldwide trips can be expected as work requirements dictate to perform operational and client visits.

Remuneration
• Excellent remuneration package to include Basic Salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience plus Daily Salary Supplement for time spent working ex-UK.
• Company contributory private pension scheme following completion of probationary period.
• Full travel insurance whilst engaged on Company business.
