System Design Engineer – IP Networks (004jc) vacancy in Saudi Arabia ()

My client, who is a major telecoms provider is now seeking a System Design Engineer – IP Networks for their operations in Saudi Arabia, you will be reporting to the Systems Design Authority

Primary Objectives and Functions:
• Responsible to the SDA for the delivery of cost-effective, low-risk, through-life design solutions compliant with customers’ requirements, capable of onward implementation and support by the Company in accordance with established contractual obligations and Company procedures.
• To be the Company’s technical subject matter expert in this field.
• To update and maintain technical product, practice and Standards knowledge in accordance with market developments as appropriate.
• To manage Design Engineers as appropriate in support of project objectives.
• To work closely with other business functions as appropriate according status of the project (New Business, Project or Managed Services).

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
• To produce cost-effective, low-risk, through-life design solutions compliant with customers’ requirements, capable of onward implementation and support by the Company in accordance with established contractual obligations and Company procedures (Design review; Configuration Control; SOPs; As built drawings etc)
• To produce and review method statements, designs, risk assessments as appropriate.
• Provide ILS input/data as appropriate.
• Ensure all design documentation is professional and complete for Test Acceptance and Technical Transfer.
• Provide engineering support for existing designs.
• Define and review subcontractor proposals for design, installation, testing commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Supervise sub-contractor works as appropriate.
• Maintain position as subject matter expert for the Company.

Contact with Others (Internal/External/Meetings):
• The SDE will interface principally with the SDA but will also have to deal directly with other staff (proposals, project, finance, commercial) and the customers.
• The SDE will also be expected to support Commercial meetings with suppliers/subcontractors.

Judgement/Decision Making Authority (Specific Responsibilities):
• Commensurate with the above duties and responsibilities as delegated.

Recruitment Specifications (Knowledge & Experience):
ESSENTIAL
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline plus Cisco CCNP or equivalent.
• Proven track record in similar role, working to tight timescales on large multi-element projects, and be able to demonstrate:
1) the use of top down design principles for secure network design
2) An understanding of lifecycle management
3) Experience of large router and distributed switch networks design
4) Experience in design of large IP addressing and subnetting schemes
5) In depth knowledge of primary routing protocols (Rip, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP etc)
6) Understanding of BGP
7) Experience in legacy to IP network design and migration
• Good standard of written and spoken English

DESIRABLE
• Currently working in a similar role
• Experience in delivery of communications services
• Sound understanding of TDM network principles
• For major civil or military projects

As this role is based in Saudi Arabia, candidates must meet all of the minimum qualifications as they are not bound by UK or EU Laws, also only individuals up to the age of 55 will be considered for any of these roles.
