My client is seeking to bid on a contract to help support various Naval Weapons systems for the Royal Navy are now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Electronic and Electrical Engineers, which is due to be awarded in May/June 2015.

The main purpose of the role will be to carry out maintenance, diagnosis and defect repair on various RN Platforms, and you will be acting as a civilian working along side of RN engineers, and the team will be operating out of a facility in Devonport and this is where you will receive full training on the specific systems that will be looked after.

Therefore your parts of this role will be as follows:-

• To work as a civilian Engineer on RN vessels and to support maintenance in UK waters.
• To assist with defect diagnoses and repair, both while operationally at Sea and alongside in port.
• To support equipment while vessels are alongside in maintenance and refit periods.
• To be part of the team providing on going support 24/7 365 days a year.
• Deployments will be on a 4 months on 4 months off programme which aligns with the RN.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills, knowledge and abilities:-
• Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering background, essential, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team.
• You must have a strong H&S ethic.
• Willing to be embedded onto a RN ship as a civilian to support and maintain weapons systems.
• Willing to undergo CONDO training and operate in a CONDO area.
• Able to work as sea and pass a seagoing medical.

Experience
• Demonstrable experience of electrical/electronic defect rectification.
• Ideally suited to ex-service.

Qualifications
• ONC or equivalent Electrical / Electronic experience.
• Full UK passport
• Full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of this role you will need to pass MoD security requirements and you will have to pass a full medical. Also as this role you will have to work on systems that are covered by the International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) this may require enhanced security checks and on going vetting.

The ideal individual for this role can come from any service as the keys skills for this role would be the electronic and electrical backgrounds, and therefore anyone who has a strong background in fault rectification and diagnostics will be considered, as training will be offered on the systems that you will be working on.

You can be based anywhere in the UK, so long as you can get to a RN port within a reasonable period of time, however you will need to attend an extended training period in Devonport prior to initial deployment to sea.

In return they are offering and excellent salary package, as well as a daily allowance for each day on board ship, with 25 days leave per year and an additional 1 weeks extra leaves for every month deployed at sea.
