SHEQ Compliance Auditor (026jc) vacancy in London and Home Counties ()

My client is a national leader in sustainable community construction projects for the UK Housing Industry and is now looking for an SHEQ Compliance Auditor to join them covering the London and Home Counties Region, so ideally you will be based within the M25 Region.

You will be reporting to the Group SHEQ Manager and your regional HQ, and the main purpose of your role will be to support the company in the operation of company systems (ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001) covering the effective management of quality, health, safety and environment. This will primarily involve undertaking Site Audits against the company performance framework

Key Accountabilities

• To audit live construction projects against the company performance framework.
• To produce detailed audit reports using the site auditing systems
• To monitor compliance with the companies systems through the development and implementation of an appropriate audit program.
• Assisting the business with the implementation of the ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards
• Producing statistical quarterly reports showing areas of weakness and areas for improvement.
• Be responsible for ensuring effective close out of corrective actions raised, open incident reports, and significant site issues.
• Producing NCRs as necessary where significant issues are identified on site
• Producing a weekly activity report
• Liaising with Regional SHEQ Managers and Regional Directors with regards to non-conformances
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and best practices in the industry through regular reading of journals and relevant website/ site visits.
• General Office duties as required.
• Assisting with External Auditing of 18001, 14001 9001.

Your Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience will include:-

Essential
• Auditing qualification covering one of the areas covered
• Operation of an OHSAS 18001 and/or ISO 14001 and/or ISO 9001 based systems
• Suitable qualifications in H & S, Environmental & Quality management. E.g. NEBOSH General Certificate, IEMA etc.
• Relevant experience of undertaking site based auditing roles
• Up to date knowledge of UK legislation in relation to SHEQ
• Ability to organise a workload to meet delivery targets
• Ability to work remotely
• Happy to travel
• Flexible – able to work at all levels
• Proven written communication skills
• Good level of numeracy
• Computer literate in MS Office

Desirable
• NEBOSH Diploma in H & S or Environmental management, and/or equivalent.
• Relevant construction sector experience
• Report writing
• Development of strategies for improvement

The ideal individual would probably come from a Royal Engineer background who has experience of doing a similar role either in the Military or Civilian sectors, however they are not looking for a ticker and basher, but someone who has a personality and commitment to help improve the standards on the sites but assisting with the signposting of internal resources who can help.
