My client, who are one of the UK’s leading Engineering Support services companies are now looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Technician to join the team based in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire

Job Purpose
The Multi Skilled Technician is responsible to the Installation Team Leader to conduct electrical, data and mechanical installation and maintenance activities at remote sites. The role also provides short-term resource for various Service Delivery tasks and embedded Task Services Form (TSF) activities. The role does require regular travel and sustained deployment at locations both in the UK and overseas.

Main Accountabilities
• To work under the direction of the Installation Team Leader and provide installation, as required, for electrical, data, mechanical and communication equipment.
• To assist the Installation Team Leader to ensure that all installation related documentation is submitted for approval prior to undertaking any installation activities and again on completion of all tasks; including method statements and risk assessments.
• To ensure that appropriate engineering standards, ensuring best practice is employed in all installation activities.
• To ensure they work in a safe and efficient manner at all times to produce quality assured products.
• Ensure that all activities undertaken are in compliance with Technical Services QMS processes.
• To contribute to increasing the competiveness of the Programmes and Engineering function provided to customer’s so that my client becomes the supplier of first choice.

• To ensure appropriate communication is maintained with all stakeholders to create and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, Service sponsors and Company stakeholders.
• To enhance my client’s reputation by ensuring that all your assigned tasks are delivered by your team in a professional manner and meet or exceed expectations.
• Accurate completion of the following:
1. Accurate time recording and checking of returned hours.
2. Accurate return and checking of claims forms.
3. Health & Safety compliance.
4. Toolbox checks.
5. Achievement of target 85% utilisation figure against fee paying work.
• To comply with the Data Protection Act (DPA) to provide the appropriate level of control of all personally identifiable information to which you have access as part of your role.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
• Must possess an adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.
• Must possess or be willing to gain a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
• Must possess (or be willing to gain) an adequate knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations.
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, SharePoint and Excel.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Level.
• Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Specific Electrical Qualifications and Skills
• Time served electrical apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds parts 1 and 2 in Electrical Installations.
• City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations.
• City & Guilds 2392 level 3 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations.
• Working knowledge of electrical installations (Basic record of proven ability in related work).
• City & Guilds 2377-22 Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
• Working knowledge of the Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (4th Edition).
• IET 17th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations Incorporating Amendment No3 2015.

Specific Data Qualifications and Skills
• City and Guilds 3466 (structured cabling installation and testing).
• Fibre optic installation, splicing and testing (basic record of proven ability).
• Cat 5 / 5e installations, termination and testing (basic record of proven ability).
• Cat 6 installations, termination and testing (basic record of proven ability).
• Familiar with the build and configuration of communications rack builds.
• City and Guilds 3466 (Multimode or Single mode).
• Basic record of proven ability in the termination of all types of data cabling.

Specific Rigging Qualifications and Skills (desirable)
• Completed Basic Aerial Erection courses or an equivalent up to date course (OPITO Stage 1 or similar Rigger Training) and Advanced climber &Tower Rescue courses.
• Consistent application in the management of rigging techniques.
• Up to date with new technology/developments.
• Appropriate Climbing at Heights qualifications.
• Able to maintain the required level of medical fitness for rigging work.
• Practical knowledge of current antennae, collection systems, i.e. SATCOM, ELINT, VHF, UHF, DF. Wifi
• LOLER Regulations
• Understand RAMS and Emergency Rescue Plans.
• Attended a Slinger/Signaller course within the last 5-years.

Additional Information:
• Work Core Hours as specified within the ESS contract.
• Work extended hours both abroad and in the UK when necessary.
• Travel abroad and in the UK when necessary.
• Undertake any duties over and above those listed, within reason, as directed by the Installation Team Leader.
