My client is delivering a £multibillion telecommunications project in Saudi Arabia and moving into a new phase of the programme, which has resulted in a new opportunity, Head of Strategic Systems.

You will be reporting to the Delivery Director and your primary objectives and functions will include:

• Responsibility and authority for Strategic Systems Profit and Loss (P&L) portfolio of projects, including delivery of a major KSA wide IP telephony network and related subsystems.
• Responsible for integration of system of systems to deliver required customer capabilities.
• Delivery of all financial targets for the portfolio.
• The portfolio includes responsibility for all stages of the project lifecycle from design through to implementation, customer acceptance and technical transfer into operational use.
• Member of the GPT executive team, advising on overall business strategy in addition to portfolio responsibilities.
• Responsible for leadership of a high performing team of project staff.
• Develop a close collaborative relationship with senior representatives from both the UK and Saudi governments.

Therefore a summary of your duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

To deliver projects in line with the customer’s key success criteria:
• Ensure all portfolio projects develop technical and acquisition solutions to meet all customer requirements.
• Work with the Project Management Office to maintain a complete set of project schedules for the portfolio.
• Work with the Project Management Office to identify the overall programme resource requirement, control and manage overall headcount required to deliver the portfolio while maintaining overall financial targets.
• Deliver overall portfolio revenue, sales and margin targets.
• Ensure project risks are defined and managed.
• Develop and deliver a communications plan for the portfolio.
• Develop and manage performance of Project staff.

Customer Relationship
• Develop excellent working relationship with the customer based on honesty and visibility.
• Represent the portfolio at customer facing governance meetings.

Business Delivery
• Be able to report to the Managing Director on the full spectrum of business activities and advise on technical, budgetary and commercial issues.
• Participate in senior strategic planning activities providing key recommendations and inputs across the programme.
• Identify improvements to all supporting functions and sub-contractor processes in order to achieve project success.
• Analyse and report measures of effectiveness of implemented recommendations.
• Act upon any important short term issues requiring immediate resolution.
• Overseeing highly prioritized projects.
• Participate in the development of financial strategies.

You will have significant contact with others, both within the company and with clients and their suppliers and you will be empowered to commit the company within your financial budgets.

For this role you will need to have the following knowledge and experience:-

Essential
• Relevant business/communications/networks first Degree or equivalent.
• Experience of running a major programme in the telecommunications field.
• Practical knowledge of communications networks.
• Experience in developing customer relations.
• Sound leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders from both Government and Industry.

Desirable
• Business experience in the Defence Sector
• Programme/Project Management qualification.
• Up-to-date technical knowledge of telecommunications systems.
• Experience of living or working in the Middle East.

As this role is based in Saudi Arabia, candidates must meet all of the minimum qualifications as they are not bound by UK or EU Laws, also only individuals up to the age of 55 will be considered for any of these roles.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE that this role is open to UK and Saudi Nationals only.
