Location: Southern Africa
Salary: commensurate
Vacancy type: Contract
Sectors: Consultancy, Overseas, Security, Training
Placed by: Ex-Mil Recruitment
My client, National Park Rescue, who are a UK registered Charity, run operations to restore security to Africa’s troubled National Parks.

A recent report revealed that 93% of all elephants have been killed in the last 100 years, and despite billions of dollars being spent, Africa’s National Parks, which are home to 84% of all survivors, are still not safe.

Therefore they are seeking a Trainer, who will be reporting to the Site Operation Manager, and you will be imbedded into a National Park in Africa with the task of helping train and manage the park’s Ranger Team.

Your role will be, with the help of the Site Operation Manager, to design, train and motivate the Ranger team to reduce the levels of poaching on the local wildlife. Therefore your role will be to deliver on the following:-

• Field Tactics and Strategy
• General training, including weapons handling
• Field craft training
• Counter insurgency/anti-poaching training
• Participation in operations involving the above

To be eligible for this role you will need to be either a SNCO/WO, preferably from a special forces/teeth arm, ideally with experience of delivering training to African personnel in field tactics and battle skills or have experience working in similar situations. You will also need to be tough minded and have the ability to understand the local systems and culture within a very short space of time.

The location will be remote and very basic, as you will be living in situ with the Ranger Team and a range of wild and potentially dangerous animals in the National Park, so this is role is not for the faint hearted.

Initially the contract will be for about 1 year, with possible extensions after that. All food, accommodation, (which is very basic), travel will be covered by the organisation, as well as a return flight every 6 months or so. There will be no accommodation provided for family members.

This role offers a change in lifestyle, and the ability to give back to society, and the remuneration package is not great. However, the charity in the future may be able to offer longer term contracts and higher salary packages once they have established themselves and expanded the current funding levels.
