Project Manager vacancy in St Asaph, Denbighshire (048jc)

My client an established and world renowned engineering company, who have just won a £82million contract from the MoD are now seeking a Project Manager for a 12 month contract due to the redevelopment of their site.

You will be reporting to the Site Services Manager and your role will be to assist for the planning, procurement & execution of the project in a cost effective and safe manner. Liaising with contractors & Welsh Government to ensure that their works are delivered to specification and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

The main duties with this position will include:
• Managing investment programmes for 2017 - Responsible for planning, procurement & execution of project requirements using best practice skills, tools & techniques.
• Managing time scales and budgets for dedicated projects - ensuring all aspects of the project are implemented to ensure compliance with relevant health, safely & environmental standards & regulations
• Completing capital expenditure requisitions and purchase orders on suppliers to agreed specification & costs as agreed budgets.
• Provide an input for strategic business planning as required
• Regular communication and updates with the site management team
• Liaise with Principal Contractors, Welsh Government & internal customers to deliver the required project to agreed specifications and in a timely manner.
• Manage the agreed project works in terms of expenditure, timescales, scope & quality of the installation with due consideration for future use & maintenance.

Personnel Specification:

It is essential that applicants are:
• Experienced Project Managers with knowledge of CDM Regulations (and the roles of Principal Designer/Principal Contractors)
• Registered Project Professional (RPP to be ChPP) but would also consider APM Professional Project Manager (IPMA level C) with PRINCE 2 Foundation or APM Project Fundamentals qualification if complemented with over 5 years’ experience managing mechanical, electrical & building projects.

They are also looking for candidates to:
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of the workings and capabilities of major investment projects with a strong background of manufacturing or programme management / engineering roles and a positive track record of achievement
• Be proactive, have proven ability to work under their own initiative and provide evidence they are confident and a good communicator displaying strong organisation, problem solving and negotiation skills
• AS9100 awareness and/or experience is desirable

The ideal candidate would probably be someone from the Royal Engineers who have a background in capital construction projects circa £4m, and as this is being funded by a government organisation and based on a MoD spec, any exposure with government departments will be highly beneficial.
