Junior Platform Integration Engineer vacancy in Portland (077jc)

My client is one of the UK’s leading independent defence contractor specialising in the development, integration and through-life support of military systems are now seeking to recruit a Junior Platform Integration Engineer to join their expanding team.

You will be responsible to the Senior Platform Integration Engineers and the Platform Co-ordinator for providing engineering support, procurement, installation & testing and configuration control.

Key Responsibilities
• To assist in the assembly and testing of manufactured items and cables.
• To carry out installation and setting to work activities of project equipment, as detailed in the project installation and test plans.
• To work as part of a team, either on site of offsite (UK or overseas).
• Attendance of trials (either on sea, land or air) as required.
• To carry out maintenance and routine servicing of relevant equipment in accordance with the project plans and work instructions.
• To assist in the preparation, issue and updating of project documentation.

Qualifications and Experience
• Experience of working on Ministry of Defence programmes would be preferred but not essential.
• A good working knowledge of electronics.
• Though not essential an understanding of underwater acoustics and sonar would be preferable.
• SC Cleared as a minimum or have no issues with going through the security clearance process.

The ideal candidate would probably be from a RN background, possible Able Seaman or Leading Hand, who has a background in Sonar or Acoustics background, preferably on below surface fleet, however candidates who other military backgrounds will be considered.

In this role you will be probably spending anywhere between 12 – 18 weeks away from the office, primarily in Devon or Scotland, however overseas travel may also be involved.
