My client is an international specialist freight forwarding company based in Wallingford, are now seeking to recruit an Ops Manager to join their small but dynamic and highly experienced team.

You will have the following specific areas of responsibility:
• Engage with a variety of customers in the commercial and government sectors, work on enquiries to provide operational costs, establish profit margins and raise quotes.
• Investigate appropriate modes of transport and routes with consideration given to explosive limits at air/sea ports of loading, transit and discharge.
• Obtain firm bookings of cargo onto vessels, trucks and aircraft, notify all relevant regulatory authorities, brief drivers and or subcontractors, co-ordinate collection, securing, carriage and delivery of cargo.
• Manage operational issues as and when they arise, which may involve weekend working.
• Distribution of shipping documents to ensure immediate removal of cargo from destination ports, raise sales invoices and authorise suppliers' invoices.
• Develop relationships with existing and new customers and undertake occasional visits to clients when deemed necessary for operational or business reasons.
• Undertake administrative duties, when necessary and assist with company IT systems purchasing and support.

To be eligible for this role you will need to following skills and abilities
• Candidates will hold a “private light goods” car driving licence
• Candidates will hold a valid UK passport
• Use of Microsoft Office
• Experience of multi-modal freight forwarding operations world-wide
Skills (Beneficial)
• Dangerous goods qualifications, e.g. DGSA, ADR and IATA
• Awareness of transportation regulatory controls in accordance with IMDG, ADR and IATA
• Awareness of UK government export controls legislation (Export Control Order 2008)
• Awareness of UK HMRC import/export customs procedures
• Awareness of International Commercial Terms (Incoterms)
• Effective communicator at all levels

You will also undergo a period of induction and be expected to attend other business-related training courses both in-house and externally.

In return they are offering a good starting salary, as well as 20 days holiday, and pension and health insurance. There will also be a mileage allowance will be paid when private cars are used on business matters, and you must be willing to travel abroad for short periods in accordance with business requirements.

You will also need to undergo and pass UK government security Clearance.
