My client, who are one of London’s respected and historic organisation are now seeking a Beadle/Master of Ceremonies for this key role within the Worshipful Company.

You will be reporting to The Clerk (Chief Executive), and you will take executive responsibility for the day to day performance and enhancement of the Hall Operations; internal Fellowship communications, and embedding the history and traditions into all company activities.

The Beadle will work seamlessly with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure effective organisational leadership, sharing information and integrated decision making.

Key responsibilities
• To be accountable for the development and successful delivery of service operations across the Hall and the new off shoot. To be the champion of high quality service delivery in every aspect of service.
• To be accountable for growing the commercial Hall business. Developing clear commercial KPI’s to measure the success and sustainability of the Hall operations.
• To develop the Hall budget, which is in the region of £3 million. Working with the Finance Director to agree the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts. Design and implement a resourcing model that supports the future increase in commercial letting of the Hall.
• Leading inspiring and developing a one team structure, ensuring a faultless and proactive service is delivered. Managing a team that are well trained, motivated and continuously striving for the highest quality in all that is delivered.
• Write a business plan to deliver the approved Fellowship Strategy and develop clear KPI’s to measure the success of the delivery against the plan. Reporting on progress to the Fellowship committee on a regular basis.
• Developing membership communications and embedding the history, tradition and protocol into all of the Company’s activities and championing the work of the Company and the team.
• Leading a programme of system and process enhancements across all areas of responsibility, ensuring they are fit for purpose. Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement to systems and processes.
• Support and advise the chairmen of committees in the strategic management of Hall operations and Fellowship activity, providing insightful management information to support effective decision making. Oversight of the programme of works on the Hall. Providing the right level of advice, support and challenge.
• Lead and be accountable for all Ceremonial duties, both internally and externally. To be the expert in Company protocols with a strong relationship with the Master of the day. Develop a strong relationship with the EA to the Master and the Clerk advising on expectations. Always ensuring that all participants in ceremonial events are fully briefed and the correct protocols are observed.
• Attending on the Master at external events, not only but especially at the City Guildhall, Mansion House, and St Paul’s Cathedral.
• To be an effective and diplomatic provider of toasts and to oversee the maintenance, distribution and safe keeping of the Company’s robes and badges.
• To lead on the Pan Livery initiatives, building strong links with the other Beadles and Clerks of the Great Twelve Livery Companies. Become the ‘go to’ Beadle within the Livery Companies, leader of good practice, an ambassador and trusted advisor.
• Liaise with the City Police and Corporation officials on official matters and VIP visits.

Person Specification
• A credible leader and team player who is able to exercise influence at the highest levels across a range of stakeholders, as well, as someone who is able to delve into operational detail. S/he will be inspired by the opportunity to be part of a high performing team.
• Experience in the delivery of Food and Beverage operations, ideally within a Private Members establishment or high end commercial venue.
• Understanding of Financial Management and resourcing models
• Demonstrable experience in managing senior stakeholders, committees and boards
• Demonstrable experience in leading on protocol and ceremonial events
• Demonstrable leadership experience and creating and inspiring high performance teams.
• Demonstrable experience in process and system improvement and measuring success.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

The ideal candidate would be someone who has a strong management background and the ability to deal with at times very challenging individuals within the Membership, and at the same time, a degree of commercial acumen that can help drive the company forward. You will be dealing with some of the most influential individuals in the UK and a high level of tradition and decorum is also required.
