Salary: Upon Application

Sectors: Admin, Consultancy, Facilities Management, General, Health & Safety, Management, Overseas, Procurement, Project Management, Training
Placed by: Ex-Mil Recruitment
My client, unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams in the UK and around the world and are currently seeking to recruit an Operations Response Manager.

You will be reporting to the Ops Director and your role will be the departmental lead for rapid onset natural disaster response both in the UK and Internationally.

Therefore your Key Responsibilities will include:
• Provision of expert advice to the deployment decision making process; requiring an in-depth understanding of risk and disaster management, the humanitarian sector and internal capabilities.
• Rapidly deploy staff and/or volunteers to disaster zones matching TR capabilities with need. Expedites the timely passage of information and ensuring “duty of care” to all personnel involved in TR operations.
• Refine and grow a sustainable development programme in Africa and Asia (Nepal/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh/Thailand/Philippines) in collaboration with partners (public, private and iNGOs) to transform disadvantaged communities, build volunteer capacity, improve TR access and generate positive outcomes for the organisation.
• Engage and build partnership with domestic and international agencies & organisations, countries and iNGO’s to improve operational effectiveness.
• Lead on TR UK Drone policy, insurance and utilisation, ensuring annual licences are up to date and compliance is maintained.
• Support operational capability growth through:
1. development of operational concepts and tactical doctrine;
2. equipment acquisition and development;
3. provision of quality volunteer engagement opportunities that build capacity and entice and retain talent, and;
4. working alongside the Ops Support Manager, design and deliver a programme of training activity.
• Lead and manage a diverse team of permanent, part-time, contracted and intern staff and a large volunteer base.
• Assume the responsibilities of the operations support manager in extremis.

Therefore to be eligible for this role, you will need the following:
• Dynamic, agile, insightful and methodical; able to mentally and physically orientate to a problem, quickly dissect the salient factors, ascertain risk and reward, establish workable solutions that have cross party buy-in and brief this in a manner that ensures common understanding to often wide and mixed ability groups.
• Adept at managing multiple and competing priorities. An understanding of programme/project management principles and processes is essential.
• Through diplomacy, tact and patience persuade a broad church of international, national and our own volunteers into action; some of which might well be indecisive, irrational and at times combative.
• Task orientated but with an ability to think laterally to find innovative new ways of solving decades old problems, take calculated risks and use their initiative to seize fleeting opportunities.
• Reflects the values of the organisation and humanitarian principles.
• An effective communicator; articulate both orally and on paper. Organised – can effectively administer themselves/others and bring order to chaos.
• Tenacious, self-motivated and robust. Able to drive through plans that are beset by challenges and a lack of resource.
• Ability to work under pressure in stressful situations whilst continuing to deliver clear and concise direction to the team.
• Emotionally resilient with an almost limitless flexibility to deploy.

This role will be primarily based in the Chilmark HQ, but with possible travel to London Office and other locations as needed.

The ideal candidate would probably be SNCO/WO, LE or DE Junior or middle ranking officer, who has a strong operational background and who is able to hit the ground running.

In return the client is offering a good salary and benefits package, as well as operating in a dynamic organisation that puts people at the heart of its operation, both in the UK and Overseas.
