Asphalt Plant Operative vacancy in Newquay, Cornwall (046jc)

They are in the frontline of the construction and infrastructure sectors, who supply a vast array of materials, with over 300 sites and 4000+ personnel in the UK, they are now seeking an Asphalt Plant Operative to join their expanding team.

This is a wide-ranging role with the emphasis on HSE and quality at for my client.

As an Asphalt Plant Operative reporting to our Assistant Asphalt Plant Manager and producing up to 120 tonnes of asphalt per hour, and operating to the highest health, safety, environmental and quality standards, you’ll be responsible for the operation of mobile plant, undertaking regular maintenance inspections and pre-start checks, asphalt-mixing and the safe, cost-effective operation of machinery. Communicating closing with Weighbridge Operators, the laboratory and our commercial team, you’ll minimise waste and maximise re-cycling opportunities.

In addition to daily cleaning duties, you’ll also:
• Ensure all surplus asphalt and waste is recorded
• Carry out health, safety, environmental and quality inspections.

A thorough knowledge of the product range produced by asphalt plants, detailed knowledge of operational procedures and maintenance and, ideally, experience in all areas of plant operations would be an advantage, as well as the ability to understand written instructions and basic mathematical skills. Strong on planning ahead to make best use of raw inputs and reduce waste to a minimum, you also have the ability to concentrate on control screen and process for long periods. You can also understand and operate basic computer/IT programs.

Hours are 48 per week, shift patterns are subject to change. Pay is monthly and there is a company pension scheme. There are 25 days’ holiday per annum.
