Support Engineer vacancy in Portland, Dorset (072jc)

My client is one of the UK’s leading independent defence contractor specialising in the development, integration and through-life support of military systems are now seeking to recruit an additional Support Engineer to join their expanding team.

You will be reporting to the Project Manager and senior engineers and your role will be to assist the team in all aspects support, procurement, installation, testing and configuration control. You will be expected to work on his own initiative and as part of a team.

Therefore your principle duties will consist of:
• To provide pre-production support to Senior Engineers.
• To assist the Production Controller in the planning, assembly and testing of manufactured items and cables in accordance with Manufacturing Control procedure and associated work instructions.
• To carry out installation and setting to work activities of project equipment, as detailed in the project installation and test plan as detailed in Installation Control Procedure
• To work as part of a team, either on site or offsite (UK or overseas).
• Support of trials (either on sea, land or air) as required by the Project Manager.
• Liaison with customers, suppliers and external agencies.
• To carry out maintenance and routine servicing of relevant equipment in accordance with the project plans and work instructions.
• To carry out system integration and test activities in accordance with Company Procedure QP38.
• To assist in the preparation, issue and updating of project documentation in accordance with Company configuration control procedure.
• To provide any other support service within competencies as requested by management

To be eligible for this role, my client is seeking someone who has a background knowledge of electrical engineering, i.e. ONC level or similar, experience in comms installations, trails or similar. You would probably be ex Royals Signals or Royal Navy, up to JNCO level, who is seeking to join an expanding company, where they are willing to help develop your skills and ability to progress you in the future.

In the meantime they are offering a good starting salary package, which will depend on your skills and abilities already in place, 22 days leave + Bank Holidays, pension, health care, as well as Overtime and extra payments while working off site. They are also looking to give further training and development for you to progress in the company.
