What is the Royal Military Police Reserves?
253 Provost Company is based in Tulse Hill, South London and is the reserve Royal Military Police Company (formerly known as the TA) for London and the South East, The Soldiers within 253 routinely support the regular army, providing individual support across a breadth of operational roles in the UK and ABROAD. These include General Policing Duties (GPD), movement support, close protection and close support to combat units.
Do I get paid?
You get paid for all the time you spend in the Royal Military Police Reserve with your pay rising as you promote through the ranks. There is also an annual tax free bounty that you are entitled to if you complete your minimum annual training commitment that increases to £1,725 after five years of service. New entrants are eligible for extra payments of up to £2,300.
Can I Join?
You must meet the following criteria:
• Aged between 17 and 9 months and 49 and 11 months.
• Prove that you either have British Citizenship, or if you are a Commonwealth Citizen, Indefinite Leave to Remain must be stamped on your passport (settlement) in the UK.
What is my commitment?
Army reserves soldiers serving in Regional Units complete a minimum of 27 days training a year, compromising of some mid-week evenings, some weekends and an annual two-week camp. Dates are made to be flexible to coincide with your other job. Additional days are also available.
Will I get to travel?
You will be able to play a variety of sports and take part in adventurous training activities worldwide serving in the Royal Military Police Reserve. Additionally, the opportunity to travel to countries such as Canada and Kenya on training exercises is available.
