My client, is an established family business that operates in the sourcing, development, development and distribution of food products to the MoD.

You will be reporting to the Head of Operations – Defence Products, and you will be assisting in supporting the Defence Services Team that are responsible for the supply of all Military feeding contracts awarded to my client, The team operate from 4 sites in the UK. The DST is the overseen by the Director of Defence Services who is responsible for the performance of all Defence contracts in both the Ambient and Foodservice sectors.

Main Purpose of Role

To perform the day to day management of the United Nations Combat Rations Contract (UNCRP) ensuring service levels are maintained, monitored and reported on. The role will be end customer facing. The role will predominantly located at the Coulsdon Offices, however travel to UN Missions overseas and the packing facility on a regular basis will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities
• End User/Customer facing
• Liaison with Production and Planning Manager to ensure timely packing
• Managing customer requirements
• Liaison at appropriate levels with Mission Staff (to include Monthly Telecon)
• Identifying potential stock issues and reporting to the Head of Operations
• Monitor costs of production and shipping
• First point of contact for all emergency orders
• Co-ordinate Range Reviews
• Ensure service levels are maintained
• Produce MI reports as required
• Conduct customer unit visits as required
• Attend meetings as required by the contract
• Travel as required by the contract requirements

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Previous experience of Foodservice and Logistics preferably with a Military focus.
• Understanding of the full cost of supply chain process, including shipping, logistics, packaging.
• Experience of cost reduction and income generation through negotiation.
• Global and local knowledge of product area, including suppliers, trends and market dynamics.
• Ability to analyse industry data.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a good level of computer literacy.
• Able to adapt to change.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 GCSE (or equivalent) including Maths and English

The ideal candidate would be someone with a strong sales or business development background either in Logistics and or food, as well as a strong customer presentation skills, as you will be dealing with individuals from all levels.
