My client is one of the UK's leading engineering support services organisation employing over 28,000 people across the world, who offer a hugely diverse number of career options are now seeking to recruit a Nuclear Repair Manager

You will be reporting to the Head of Fleet Engineering and the main objective and purpose of the role will be to manage the RA2 Nuclear Repair Facility and Team to meet the through life maintenance, repair and quality requirements of HM Naval Vessels and customers. Ensuring the customer work tasks (plans/schedules/KPI's etc) are delivered safely, on time, to specification and within an agreed budget. Ensure close liaison with all key stake holders throughout project programmes.
Therefore, your key responsibilities and accountabilities for this role will include:
1. Manage the Nuclear Repair facility. 2. Assist the Head of Fleet Engineering in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the production resource. 3. Carry out the duties of the on-call Duty Nuclear Repair Manager. 4. Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out in accordance with the company’s cost, time and quality requirements. 5. Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in all areas of the Nuclear Repair business ensuring that assessment of risks is carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. 6. Lead and motivate all the Nuclear Repair staff to deliver the main objective and purpose. 7. Specific Nuclear Safety Responsibilities. Ensure the adequate SQEP (suitably qualified and experienced) resource and equipment is available to conduct submarine maintenance and repair activities in accordance with the Clyde Safety Management Arrangements. 8. Specific Nuclear Safety Responsibilities. Manage the maintenance and repair work to the submarine reactor primary and 1st level systems in accordance with the Clyde Safety Management Arrangements.
You will have a budget of about £4m per annum and you will be managing commercial contracts to £750k per annum, as well as managing commercial income to £300k per annum. You will alos be supporting other sites with SQEP as requested,
You will be responsible for 5 direct reports and have about another 66 personnel reporting to them as well as Stakeholder / Customer engagement and influencing with PGM, Ship Staff, FASFLOT, Design Authority, Technical Authority and Contractor management
For this role you will need the following Knowledge, skills and experience:
• Nuclear Engineering
• Maintenance, diagnosis, repair and replace of submarine/surface ship based mechanical equipment, either in situ or in workshop
• Primary Nuclear Plant, Nuclear Steam Raising Plant, 1st level and secondary system
• Quality Assurance, Health Safety & Environment
• T, A, & V class systems
• Planning processes
• Budget Management Processes
• Business applications
• Minimum 5 years at a managerial level,
• Organising
• Motivating
• Delegating
You will also need the following Qualifications and Licences for this role:
• Nuclear Warship Support Course (NWSC) or Cat A Watchkeeper
• Nuclear Submarine Quality Assurance Course (NSQAC)
• Nuclear Standards Inspector Course (NSIC)
• ILM Level 5 or equivalent
• General Radiation Protection Indoctrination
• Confined Spaces for Competent Persons

The ideal candidate would be a Royal Navy Engineering Officer who has preferably Cat A or Cat B Watchkeeper qualifications, who has worked in a very similar role in the past either on the Astute or Vanguard at either Barrow or on The Clyde.
