My client, who are an independent provider of Satcoms and IT Support with a truly world-wide foot print are now seeking a IT Infrastructure Support Technician to join their dynamic and expanding team.

You will be reporting to the Enterprise Engineering & IT Solutions Manager, and the main purpose of the role will include:
• Provide day to day hands on technical support on the internal Corporate and Customer managed IT infrastructure.
• Work as part of the IT team delivering a quality 24/7 service to internal users (both at HQ and remote users) as well as nominated customer gateways, servers and laptops.
• Install, configure computer hardware (IP phones, mobile devices, workstations, peripherals etc.), operating systems, software and applications as well as resolve any technical issues that arise.
• Carry out all daily, weekly, monthly duties as required on the IT checklist, or requested by the IT Manager.
• Assist in the administration of corporate servers and applications.
• Carry out applicable tasks as requested by the IT Operations Manager as specified in the System Administration section of the Company Security Organization document.

Therefore, your prime responsibilities will be to:
• Build laptops and PC’s according to internal & Customer specification as applicable ensuring that they are completed in accordance with Company’s IT Security policies and accreditation standards.
• Order, arrange and repair (where required) equipment under the terms of the warranty agreement on specific hardware.
• Monitor desktop and laptop system usage/performance, ensuring workstations are working efficiently.
• Support on the local data network, telephony equipment and servers, patching of data and telephony networks, installation of telephones onto desks and trunking of cables.
• Management and support of onsite AV equipment including Video Conferencing, Projectors etc.
• Administer and support the Mitel Phone system.
• Support of the email infrastructure including Exchange, cloud gateways and SPAM filtering.
• Support of the remote working environment including VPN’s and RDP.
• Be part of the support team for company users fault finding and solving problems, ensuring you own the problem until resolved ensuring users are regularly informed of progress and that all issues are logged.
• Work with external suppliers where support cannot be done in house to assist IT with problem resolution.
• Be part of the 24/7 on call IT rota responding to emergencies as required including remote access or site visits for company corporate network and users as well as nominated customer networks.
• Be part of the company System Administration Rota performing tasks as required in the System Administration section of the company Security Organization document and including site visits to customer Gateways.
• Assist with the technical maintenance, backup and IT administration of nominated customer gateways and servers.
• Follow departmental change control process and procedures.
• Work within the remit of Company’s cyber security policies.

Support the IT Infrastructure Engineer as required in providing:
• Antivirus maintenance, update and patch management (WSUS)
• System backup/recovery, monitoring and reporting.
• Support of the security infrastructure including firewalls, RSA token server and Web Filtering.
• Support of the network storage equipment.
• Maintenance of the corporate and customer systems and networks, including support of physical and virtual servers.

Asset Management Responsibilities include:
• Maintain user asset (including software licence) inventory and update changes when kit is moved/deployed within the company. Perform regular auditing of the asset register.
• Maintain software compliance for all desktop operating systems, desktop application and client licences.

In support of the IT manager you will assist in IT Strategy by:
• Assisting in the management, readiness and implementation of the disaster recovery policy.
• Continuously evaluating the existing processes and procedures to ensure that Desktop Support is being carried out in the most efficient and effective manner, working with the IT Manager to initiate appropriate best practice and corrective action.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of all desktop procurement and development efforts.
• Report on any issue that could impact the business or integrity and security of the network.
• Assistance in the desktop and Server Patch Strategy.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following experience, skills and qualifications
• A technical role, a broad range of technical skills is required in terms of diverse IT hardware and business applications.
• Knowledge of working with servers and associated technology.
• A sound technical grounding, including an understanding of TCP/IP networking principles
• Good understanding of core Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 administration skills, Microsoft Windows desktop environments.
• Excellent understanding of IT Security (anti-virus, hard drive encryption, authentication)
• Hands on experience with client hardening an advantage.
• Excellent experience of Virtual Environments (VMware and Hyper-V), Group Policies and Active Directory would be highly advantageous, as well as any previous experience
• In-depth experience of Email services inc. Microsoft Exchange, spam filtering and cloud continuity/messaging services.
• Excellent knowledge of administering / supporting Blackberry UEM and mobile device management (MDM).
• In-depth experience of Remote access services inc. VPNs, RSA Tokens and Remote Desktop.
• Experience of administering and supporting Mitel phone systems is desirable.
• Relevant Microsoft qualifications are a strong bonus
• Previous experience covering 1st/2nd/3rd line support roles.
• Must be able to be able to achieve Direct Vetted Status (DV).

Typically, the ideal candidate would probably come from a Signals IS background or similar.
