Roadmaster Operator - UK Wide vacancy in Northampton/Manchester/Sterling/Oxford/Bristol (179ls)

Due to continued growth, a Roadmaster operating company is seeking to hire Driver Operators to join the team. Customers are primarily local authorities throughout England, Scotland and Wales on a seasonal basis, so you must have the flexibility to work away from home as required. You will report to the Operations Manager and will work in close cooperation with the Local Authority road engineers.

The role will consist of operating the Roadmasterâ„¢ to carry out road maintenance and surface patching. The Roadmasterâ„¢ is a self-contained unit carrying bitumen emulsion and aggregate (stone chips). The driver, working from the cab of the truck, using skill and judgment, controls the delivery of a mix of bitumen emulsion and stone chips to the repair area. This effects a speedy and long lasting repair to the damaged area.
The nature of the work requires the operator/driver to have a high level of self-motivation and be able to work alone and as a part of a team. Successful candidates will be required to be presentable at all times and have an ability to interact and work well with people.

Requirements
• A clean Category C+E (HGV2) licence, with a minimum of 1 year driving experience
• Have a keen eye for level surfaces and irregularities
• Mechanical ability would be an advantage to facilitate minor servicing tasks and repairs on the machine
• Fluency in English
• Must be able to use email, a tablet and a mobile phone
• Have good organizational skills to keep paperwork in order
• Demonstrate a commitment to customer service
• Be a team player and also be comfortable working independently
• Have initiative and demonstrate a flexible “can-do” approach to work.
• Previous experience in the use of road repair materials, highway maintenance and Local Authority procedures while not necessary would be an advantage

The company will train suitable people who pass the initial assessments. And because the work is at a variety of sites across the UK, there is travel involved so company provides accommodation as necessary, and a company mobile phone and tablet, a company van and fuel card. They also pay subsistence when applicable. The pay rates are as follows:

Rate during training: £10.50 per hour
Rate during 3 month probation period: £12.00 per hour
Rate after satisfactory conclusion of probation period: £13.50 per hour
