Works Manager vacancy in Sittingbourne, Kent (183jc)

A long established and market leading manufacturing business based in central Sittingbourne are seeking a Works Manager to join their team and take over the day to day running of the workshop facility.

The successful incoming person will be key to keeping the manufactured process in line with the objectives and tight timescales of a metal work, precision engineered product base.

Reporting to the Managing Director the role will include the setting of objectives and KPIs. You will organise resources to meet production demand as needed within budget. Manage and measure the Health and Safety factors in a manufacturing setting and take the lead on building maintenance and budget control. Improve processes and quality factors by implementing and developing Lean and CI measures.

Alongside this you would oversee customer shipment management and Purchasing stock control, liaising with the Stock Controller ensuring annual stock take is undertaken and performed in a timely manner. Manage the day to day running of the workshops with shop floor supervisors including the induction of new manufacturing staff.

In order to be considered for the role you will have at least 2 years’ experience directly managing engineering personnel. In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, design techniques, and procedures. Technical aptitude and familiarity with machining, welding, and assembly manufacturing processes. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and work under tight deadlines. Excellent customer service and communication skills

In return they are offering a salary of up to £40k, with 25 days leave, where a couple of days are restricted to Christmas and New year due to factory shutdown, and your working week will be 37 hours Mon to Thu 8:00 until 16:45 and Fri 8:00 until 12:00 (Half day)
