About the role
This is a varied role in a skilled team that provides technical support to University of Leicester trades staff and contractor management. It was after the first world war that the local community came together to create our university. The University of Leicester is a living memorial to honour all those who made sacrifices for the nation. Of course, as a site with such a heritage, reactive maintenance is vital to preserve our buildings. You will help to ensure we can keep supporting young peoples’ futures.

As a Reactive Maintenance Electrical Technician, you will plan and carry out electrical technical maintenance work for all our University buildings. We will rely on you to diagnose and fix faults and problems with a range of assets, systems and procedures. You will allocate and organise your own work to ensure customers are satisfied. You will also work closely with maintenance contractors - engaging them, and managing their work to a high standard. Complying with all H&S legislation and meeting the departments service level agreement with the universities stakeholders.

About you
To join us, you will need current trade qualifications, plus either a relevant HNC qualification or a substantial level of experience in a role like this. A team player with good communication skills, you demonstrate the ability to organise your own activities, and other people’s, to meet deadlines, and achieve high quality standards and value for money. Knowledge of health and safety compliance within the construction/maintenance industry is vital. Ideally, your skills will span electrical and mechanical systems, plus knowledge of building fabric, wet trades and carpentry.
