My client, who are an independent international organization, created by agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel, with peacekeeping responsibilities in the Sinai are now seeking to recruit a Pavements & Grounds Supervisor who will report to the Facilities Maintenance Manager (FMM)

The Pavements & Grounds (P&G) Supervisor supervises, plans, schedules and directs the activities of Care Service personnel engaged in grounds maintenance and Heavy Equipment Operation. He / she makes long, short- and medium-term planning recommendations regarding construction, maintenance and repair of roads, pavements and parking areas, athletic areas, security fencing. In addition, he / she is to assist other trades as necessary to accomplish any task required efficiently and economically and, when directed, assist external contractors.

Therefore, your responsibilities will include:
• The P&G Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance activities of the P&G Care Service staff and for ensuring that all associated work is carried out in strict accordance with the company’s safety rules and operating procedures. In addition, he / she shall assist the maintenance planning team by providing landscaping knowledge and expertise (including knowledge of heavy equipment capabilities) as and when required. He / she also oversees landscaping (which includes de-vegetation and grooming) of all planted areas other than those allocated to living accommodation for company personnel. He / she shall oversee Heavy Equipment operation by Care Service staff and ensure that each is competent to operate to operate the allocated equipment. He / she shall oversee lifting operations that involve a crane and act as a banksman during lifting operations. Supervise and co-ordinate non-potable water truck (used for ground irrigation), sewer and garbage truck operations. He / she assists with the planning of landscaping or horticultural requirements, prepares designs for use by technical designers and bills of materiel necessary to accomplish a project.
• He / she is responsible for overseeing work of all P&G staff. This includes ensuring that all machine operators are correctly trained to use the machines and understand the associated rules for safe use together with the relevant accident procedures. He / she is responsible for allocating work to the appointed staff and for coordinating their efforts efficiently and effectively. He / she shall liaise with Care Service staff regarding Care Service leave requirements and report conflicts of interest to his / her supervisor.
• He / she shall work with his / her staff to resolve technical problems quickly, ensuring that problems with the heavy equipment are reported to VMF as and when they arise.
• Checks the work performed by subordinates to the extent necessary to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company regulations, safety standards and required trade practices, with particular regard to those applicable to equipment operation and ‘permit to dig’ requirements. Corrects, or has corrected, any faults identified and determines whether any additional training is required. All work shall be conducted to a ‘right first-time approach’ and any rework shall be shown on the SAP work order by setting ‘rework’ as a Maintenance Activity Type in SAP.
• Maintains a record of competencies for allocated Care Service staff: this record is to include a list of which equipment each member of staff is authorised to operate without direct supervision. Safety refresher training for each member of Care Services on the operation of each item of authorised equipment shall be conducted at least annually. Records of all training provided are to be forwarded to the Force Contract Analyst of all training completed on a monthly basis, specifying training content and personnel trained. Training may be recorded using a SAP work order with a ‘training’ operation.
• Ensures that all pre-use operator checks are correctly performed on allocated heavy equipment prior to use by his / her staff and that all vehicle operation documentation (VOS Sheet) is properly completed. Ensures that each item of heavy equipment allocated is started weekly and run to ensure that it remains serviceable.
• Ensures that lifting tackle is correctly stored, labelled and segregated so as to prevent the incorrect items from being selected accidentally. Ensure Care Service staff carry out the correct pre-use checks on each item of lifting tackle used and that any unserviceable items are segregated and secured pending formal inspection. Furthermore, all equipment and lifting tackle allocated shall be maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
• With the assistance of the Force Contract Analyst, maintain a list of lifting equipment and lifting tackle. Assist the Force Contract Analyst during the annual inspection of lifting equipment and tackle.
• As the UDT, shall oversee the training of all allocated Care Service staff and remove immediately and equipment operator who is considered to be unsafe, a danger to others or not technically competent. Reports such workers to the FMM for formal re-training and subsequent replacement if necessary.
• He / she shall ensure an acceptable standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the vehicles and work areas. (Assigned Care Service technical staff is responsible for maintaining clean and tidy work areas, workshops and vehicles.) Faults with vehicles are to be reported to the Vehicle Maintenance Facility without delay for rectification and repair.
• Maintains accurate records of all work accomplished and ensures that such records are entered into SAP. Ensures that work orders passed to his / her team are completed within the priority set and any requirements for materials that are not in stock are progressed through the work order system promptly (such as by the end of day the requirement was first identified).
• Ensures that all spare parts and materials held in the workshop are correctly stored, labelled and segregated so as to prevent the incorrect items from being selected accidentally. Ensures that all materials are used efficiently, waste is avoided. Ensures that workshop stock is used only for company purposes and is not misused or misappropriated.
• Shall use the SAP system to report on work order status, maintenance requirements, priority, material requirements and manpower times allocated. Depending upon the processes established by the FEO from time to time, he / she shall be prepared to develop his / her SAP skills to monitor work order completion, material consumption on similar work and fault analysis.
• Provides 24 hour “on call” support as required and to meet work roster, emergencies or Force mission requirements.
• May be required to perform in other duties when the company operational THREATCOM LEVEL changes.
• Maintains an accident book for his work area and staff and records details of all occasions where he / she or a member of his / her staff seek medical attention at a dispensary.
• Performs other duties as required by his/her supervisor.

You will be responsible for about 30 personnel

To be eligible for this role you will need the following minimum qualifications and experience:
• Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience, with a least 3 years’ in Supervisory role within the service industry involving Grounds Maintenance and Heavy Equipment operations and quality inspections.
• Excellent organization skills capable of working in fast paced, changing priority environment; results oriented and focused on outcome; computer skills a must; utilizing excel, word, Microsoft; and excellent communication and leadership skills. Must be able to work without supervision and always looking to develop procedures through continuous improvement.
• Must have recognized Heavy Equipment Certification/License from Home Country with experience in Roads and Ground Maintenance, operations.
• Must maintain a “safety & quality first” attitude with a solid customer focused outlook.

Position requirements:
• Ability to: read, interpret and work from blueprints; prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of material and labour; select proper materials to be used; work cooperatively with others; skilfully use the proper tools.
• Must hold a valid Home Country driver’s license and Heavy Equipment license/permits and able to obtain and maintain an appropriate local driving and equipment license. All driving requirements are for both in and off camp conditions.

Languages:
Must be fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic / Spanish is a plus.
