My client who are one of the UK’s leading providers of Wi-Fi solutions in the UK are now seeking a Project Manager to lead a small team dedicated to the Defence sector in the UK.

You will be reporting to the Head of Projects & Transformation and your role will relate to the to the planning implementation and closure of short-term delivery/upgrade of wireless networks. The role outline includes:
• Project delivery costing
• Working with customer/internal departments to plan the delivery
• Establish delivery milestones
• Customer and internal communication of project delivery status
• Stakeholder management
• Full and timely reporting covering KPI metrics, Risks, Assumptions, Actions and Dependencies
• Resourcing of projects (people, materials and equipment)
• Financial monitoring of project delivery
• Quality reviews
• Project closure sessions and ‘lessons learnt’ logs

Therefore, your responsibilities, activities and key deliverables will include:
Plan the project
• Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
• Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
• Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
• Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
Resource the project
• Work with the Field Installations Manager and Project Coordinator to ensure contractor selection is complete and staff assigned to deliver the project on each site.
• Work with the Field Installations Managers to ensure all the Risk Assessments and Method Statements as well as the Company Health and Safety Policies are adhered to on all sites.
Implement the project
• Execute the project according to the project plan
• Develop forms and records to document project activities
• Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
• Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project on time and within budget.
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organisation on the progress of the project
• Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
Manage the project
• Write reports on the project for management team
• Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements
• Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures
• Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)
• Manage all project costs
• Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
Evaluate the project
• Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
• Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
Project Progress Reporting Vs Plan:
• To provide field KPIs promptly on work progress in line with the following:
• Project Status and completion rates of tasks against plan
• Daily resource hours used against plan
• Provide and validate resource and materials costs allocated to site against budget
• Be part of the installation team action planning process
• Installation costs Vs plan
• Manage Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies using appropriate log and review formats in line with Prince 2 project management framework
• Manage the delivery of key milestones, Decisions and Change Requests.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Qualifications
• At least 5 years’ experience in a project management role
• Prince 2 Practitioner qualifications essential
• Full UK driving licence as the projects cover the whole of the UK.
• Thorough understanding of the principles of project delivery
• Very familiar with all MS Office suite
• Fully familiar with project management software tools such as MS Project and how it integrates with the rest of the MS Office tools
• Ability to engage and learn the use of new software tools to manage the delivery
• Ability to make financial decisions relating to project resourcing
• Good communicator with ability to provide detailed and concise progress reporting internally and to the customer
• Experience in customer facing environment
• Experience in network installations and understands the basics of wired and wireless networking
