My client, a world leader in the defence sector are now seeking to recruit a Machine Shop Operative in this manufacturing site in Tring.

You will be reporting to a team leader, and you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a variety of milling and turning machines in the build of all products within the site, and continuously monitor product quality during build to improve production performance targets.

You will be working within a multi-disciplined team of 3 - 4 people, and you will be required to operate and maintain the equipment with expectations to improve current processes and work within an agreed budget.

Therefore, your key responsibilities will include:
• Implement machining strategies and action plans, as directed by the Workshop Team Leader, to ensure that the manufacturing facility supports the business strategic objectives.
• Create existing products and working with engineering to provide input to new developments and existing products.
• Operate and maintain the equipment, with particular focus on operating Manual-CNC Lathe.
• Enforce Housekeeping requirements, Health & Safety Processes & Risk assessments while maintaining a safe and clean working environment throughout the facility
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished work piece allowing for plating thicknesses.
• Sequencing of operations, tooling, programming and setup requirements to manufacture components with an efficient approach.
• Liaise with Quality on non-conformance & suggest resolution activities.
• Maintain batch traceability on raw material delivered and usage on Shop Orders.
• Recognise, solve & implement required changes for machining related problems.
• Work in co-operation with other Manufacturing teams to ensure the product is of the quality and standards expected.
• Attend daily team planning meetings and managing personal workload.
• Ensuring that production documentation is kept up-to-date.
• Manage security of information as defined in the Information Security Policy.

To be eligible for this role, you will need the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:
• CNC Lathe and Milling Machine Setting & Operating
• Understanding of programming languages FANUC, ProtoTRAK, G-Code
• Understanding of using material requirements planning (MRP) systems to control and monitor inventory
Desirable
• Haas/XYZ/Bridgeport Machine Experience
• Manual Turning & Milling
• Use of 3D Modelling software (Solidworks & OneCNC)
• Ability to obtain SC Clearance.
