Job Title: C9224 PO 3 – 6 Regional Technical Surveillance Officer.
Location: This post will be based in the SW ROCU Northern Hub in the vicinity of J16 M5 - there will also be an expectation of travel across the region.
No of posts: 1 x Perm.
Salary Scale: PO 3 – 6 - £33,771 - £36,525.
Hours per week: 37 hours per week.
Description:
• To design, develop and deploy technical solutions, carrying out sensitive and covert deployments in both compliant and intrusive environments to tackle all levels of crime, supporting investigations into serious and organised criminality across the South West Region.
• Deploying a diverse range of bespoke and commercial off the shelve equipment adapted to suit the operational requirement. Including visual imagery, audio technology, technical observation points, static and discrete CCTV, asset tracking, and audio and data exploitation.
• Consulting with Senior Officers in order to provide vital specialist tactical and technical advice, developing the strategic plan for sensitive operations and investigations to meet operational and investigative needs.
There is a requirement for the role to have successfully completed during the probationary period, the College of Police TSU Core skills Course (D7). There is the added expectation for accreditation from the College of Police on successful completion of the Tactics for technicians (D6) course; should you not successfully pass the required courses then we will not be in a positon to continue your contract of employment.
The SW ROCU was established in September 2010 to disrupt serious and organised crime across the South West of England. It is made up of the five forces in the region – Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire – to work across the county borders. It brings together the capability and funding to gather intelligence, crack serious and organised crime networks and seize the assets of the criminals involved.
Anyone wishing to be considered for this role will need to have the relevant qualifications, experience and skills defined as Essential on the attached job description. Please note appointments to this post are subject to a higher security clearance at SC (E) & MV Level.

Technical and practical assessments will take place week TBC
Interviews will be held week commencing TBC
Following shortlisting there will be a technical assessment to assess basic technical skills; this will involve practical tool handling as well basic fault finding along with a working at heights assessment.
Working pattern – Flexible working, full time, part time and job share applications will be considered. Please specify if you are seeking an arrangement other than full time and how you anticipate this may be managed in the role you are applying for.
