My client who are an organisation that deliver continuous training and development to the MoD are now seeking a WSO/WSOp ISR (Lnd) Aircrew Training Specialist (ATS) to join their expanding team.

You will be reporting to the Future ISTAR & Rear Crew (FIRCTS) Instructional Design Manager for establishing a credible and deliverable RPAS Sensor Operator Training System Design that meets the customer requirements. The role is responsible for the instructional design and development effort required to produce the UKMFTS RPAS Sensor Operator curriculum.

To be considered for this role you will need to be:
• An experienced ex-military WSO/WSOp with extensive RPAS instructional experience, who seeks the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of RPAS training for military aircrew.
• Capable of integrating relevant techniques and procedures into a modern flying training system.
• Flexible, adaptable and capable of working to the highest standards and achieving tight deadlines.

Therefore, your key responsibilities will include:

• Partnering
1. Uphold partnering behaviours and participate in events as required
2. Resulting in successful partnering relationships internally within Ascent and externally across UKMFTS.
• Health, Safety & Environment / Air Safety
1. Uphold adherence to the Health, Safety & Environmental Polices and Air Safety responsibilities
2. Resulting in no avoidable loss of life or injury to first, second or third parties as a result of any aspect of Ascent Flight Training Aviation or Ground Operations.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement
1. Ensure that innovation and continuous improvement is embedded in the production of media
2. Work with the team in the planning, design, development and testing of new technologies for the delivery of learning materials.
• Courseware Design
1. Maintain courseware design to the required standard
2. RPAS Courseware remains appropriate, meets the requirement and adheres to the DSAT process, ready for delivery to the customer.
• Courseware Development
1. Achieve courseware development, production and delivery milestones
2. Contribute to the timely delivery of RPAS Courseware as identified in the RPAS Training System Implementation Plan.
• Courseware implementation and assurance
1. Assist implementation and Certification
2. To CICD & Certification standards.

Your role will cover the following dimensions:

• To act as the WSO/WSOp ISR (Lnd) ATS responsible for technical oversight of the production of MFTS RPAS Sensor Operator courseware to the required standard.
• Provide specialist input to the relevant aspects of the production of Courseware Manuals, Instructor Guides and Student Guides.
• As directed by the Instructional Design Manager, provide input to solutions to meet the training requirement and liaise with Industry as required.
• As a member of the Ascent Training Design team, establish and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers and other project stakeholders whilst positively promoting a partnering ethos.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

Essential:
• Extensive military flying experience with RPAS.
• Relevant instructional responsibility with RPAS. *
• In depth knowledge of RPA systems, performance and capabilities.
• First-hand experience of delivery of multimedia classroom instruction.
• Articulate and able to translate aviation-specific and/or complex concepts into appropriate levels for integration into courseware products.
• Strong oral and written communicator.
• Ability to build solid internal and external relationships.

Desirable:
• Experience of operating Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) RPAS aircraft.
• SC cleared.
• CFS B1 or A2 qualification (not necessarily current).
• Broad knowledge of capabilities and application of synthetic training devices.
• Degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience.
• Understanding of the DSAT (JSP 822) process.
