My client, a small property portfolio company are now seeking a Security Manager to join their management team.

You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and your role will be to oversee the day-to-day operation of Security throughout the Company and to ensure that all of the administrative functions are carried out to a high standard.

Therefore, your key tasks will include:
Monitoring of all properties on a daily basis with regard to:
• Ground authority for security staff and maintenance of physical security.
• Monitoring staff maintenance of security and House logbooks.
• Maintenance of all security aids to include all alarms, PIR’s, security VCR, Cameras.
• Carry out the control of all locks and issue of keys throughout the Company, this includes all access points to properties. (windows etc)
• Maintaining observation and apprehension of petty theft from properties
• Provide presence and monitoring at properties post and preoccupation of Family members.
• Carrying out pre and post security checks on properties.
• Autonomous observation of staff and premises.
• Notification of Authorities on employees from outside U.K. absconding properties.
• Provide security staff as required at all properties.
• Provide stand-in cover for emergency staffing problems.

Weekly Duties
• Report to Line Manager weekly
• Attend weekly Security meeting.
• Prepare weekly security report.
• Produce schedule of visits to properties ensuring that all properties are visited on regular basis.
• Maintain an accurate Rota of all security personnel and provide to line manager.

Clarification of responsibilities
• Ensure that all correspondence is dealt with as soon as possible and that the presentation of these letters conforms to the required standard.
• Maintain an accurate and up to date filing system, ensuring confidentiality of information.
• Enter movements into departmental diary on daily basis.
• Answer the telephone and put calls through in a professional manner.
• Maintain contact via mobile phone twenty-four hours.
• Prepare reports and notes as required as well as dealing with faxes and emails as needed.
• Cover for the absence of the security personnel throughout the company as required.
• Maintain accurate up to date records of holidays, lieu days, sick days and any other form of absence.
• Advise line manager of all security requests from properties.
• Produce incident reports and advise line manager of any security concerns that may impinge on the security and safety of family members.
• Carry out all reasonable requests from any senior member of management.

Health and Safety Management
• Carry out staff Fire risk and safety awareness training, providing extinguisher practical demonstration and Fire Manual backing. Reporting to security manager any breaches that may lower fire safety status.
• Carry out inspections of all fire equipment in all properties and monitor previous and future test dates of all extinguishers, fire blankets and detector head status. Inform Line Manager of any equipment not complying to Fire Certificate requirement
• Carry out staff Health & Safety training, report all Health & Safety Issues to Security Manager.

Major areas of accountability:
• The job holder should be fully conversant with his/her job description and work schedule. Adequate notice should be provided when the job holder is prevented from adhering to the schedule.
• To ensure that accurate records are provided at the end of the duty for the task carried out.
• To ensure that the required hours are worked on a daily basis in accordance with work schedules and in conjunction with the breaks specified in the contract.

Effective working relationships:
• The job holder must be aware of the company grievance and disciplinary procedures.
• The job holder must have a flexible attitude and be able to carry out any such instruction from management to ensure the smooth running of the operation and to assist colleagues as and when required.
• The job holder must ensure personal phone calls / e-mails are kept to a minimum and do not disrupt the progress of works related to the Service Department.

Personal development:
• To attend and actively take part in training and/or meetings as a when required.
• To attend appraisal meetings
• To highlight any training issues required to enable the job holder to carry out his/her job.
• The job holder will assist in the training and development of new employees within the establishment as required.

Maintaining a safe working environment/Health and Safety:
• To understand and adhere to all policies and procedures for security, health and safety, fire and life.
• To comply with guidelines outlined for the proper use, protection and safety of tasks in particular to those relating to substances hazardous to health (COSHH) and manual handling.
• To report any maintenance issues immediately requiring attention and log to ensure accurate follow up and completion dates.
• To promote safe working practices ensuring all accidents are attended and reported.
• To report sick/irregular behaviour of staff, residents or contractors.
• To report any incidents, complaints, suspicious persons or safety hazards immediately.

Management and leadership:
• To be familiar with and adhere to the objectives, standards policies and procedures of the organisation.
• To participate in the building of and efficient team by taking an active interest in the day-to-day operation
• To respond to any changes in the property as dictated by the demands of the business.
• To assist in the strict control of all consumables (chemicals etc) and participate in stock control checks as instructed.

General:
• To at all time project a favourable image of the company.
• To have read and be familiar with the terms and conditions of employment.
• To have received the staff handbook.
• To have received the company Health and Safety policy.
• To be suitable and smartly dressed in the appropriate uniform.
• All properties within the company have a non-smoking policy.

You will be mainly working “normal” office hours, but there may be a requirement that you will be on call outside of those hours to deal with emergency call outs as needed.

This role would an ideal role for someone who is seeking a varied role, as 50% of the time you will be based in an office, producing the paperwork associated with the above duties and being out on the shop floor keeping a presence at the properties, which are based in Chelsea and Grosvenor areas, as well as attending properties outside London.

This is a low-profile role, and they are seeking an individual who will have the ability to keep the current systems and procedures in place and at the same time has the presence to supervise the security assistants and contract security personnel that they use at some of the properties.

The ideal candidate would be someone who would live within a reasonable commute from Central London and who get there quickly and efficiently when there is no public transport available.

This role would be ideal for someone who is looking for a long-term role that can offer stability and a better work/life balance as there is no real progression in this role.

In return they are offering a good basic salary, with 25 days holiday, sick pay, death in service and they will match your pension contribution up to 7% as well as a season ticket loan.
