My client, who is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of complete fluid transfer solutions in the UK are now looking for additional Lead Pump Engineers to join their expanding team.

They provide ongoing training to the highest industry standards to ensure career progression for the right individuals.

They supply pumps for building services in Greater London and the South East of England and their mission is to excel in customer service, by combining technical know-how and risk management. The role entails working on a varied range of pumps and associated systems on customers’ sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the installation, commissioning and service of submersible and surface mounted pumping equipment, along with completing service record forms for the equipment.

Starting rates of pay are £30k-£45k depending on prior experience (paid from leaving home to arriving home), along with overtime and a generous bonus scheme. Ideally, they would like a candidate with 5+ years’ experience on circulation pumps, booster sets and wastewater pumps, able to work independently and/or train junior engineers. The top end of the salary range reflects this, along with relevant mechanical & electrical knowledge and an understanding of building services systems.

Location, their engineers are based all-round Greater London and the South East of England, so as long as you're prepared to travel into London most days then wherever you live is fine.

Main duties & responsibilities:
• Lead electrical and mechanical engineering duties carrying out installation, repair and servicing to pumps and pump systems
• Act as a mobile pump service engineer
• Supervise an apprentice and occasionally lead small teams
• Carry out both planned and reactive service visits as scheduled in a timely manner
• Attend client sites when required to investigate faults, repairing where possible and reporting all findings
• Communicate effectively with the operations team, providing reports and photos of pumps and associated equipment, with the use of Jobwatch software on a smartphone
• Liaise with customer on site in a professional manner
• Work as part of a team with health and safety demands
• Types of equipment you will be expected to work with: circulation pumps, booster pumps and wastewater pumps, together with associated electrical controls and pipework/valves
• Engineers typically work in pairs but sometimes will be expected to work alone. Full support given by office-based staff
• Carry out on-the-job training as directed by your line manager
• Driving a company vehicle to the standard required
• Always ensure that your van is stocked, cleaned and carry out weekly checklist
• Carry out dynamic risk assessments on each job as required and raise any concerns with line manager
• Check that equipment complies with current regulations

To be eligible for this role you will need the following experience, qualification and qualities to be considered:
• Mechanical and Electrical skills, with Pump industry experience is desirable
• Experience in troubleshooting of pumps and control panels is desirable
• Full UK Driving License
• Qualifications in either Electrical or Mechanical disciplines is preferable
• Confined space training is desirable (will be provided if not)
• Understanding of BS7671:2008 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is desirable
• Flexible approach
• Mature communication skills
• Ability to project a professional image to clients and colleagues
• Trustworthy, honest and has integrity and be able to think on your own initiative
• Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick and practical solutions
• The ability to work independently or as a member of a team
• Demonstrate pride in work, through accurate timely delivery
• Must have an interest in learning new technologies and industrial applications as well as strong analytical skills
• Take responsibility for personal development

The ideal candidate would probably from an engineering background and who is seeking to progress their career within this fast growing and expanding company that is seeking to employ individuals for the longer term.

In return, they are offering an excellent starting salary, although to gain the £45k you will need to be able to hit the ground running, should you need training, you would probably start at the £30 to 35k level, as well as a potential weekly bonus package. They also offer, vehicle, tools and uniform, as well as company scheme, 20 days + bank holidays and lots of overtime which is paid at time and a half, so some of their engineers can earn in excess of £10k per year in overtime payments.
