Our client is a global satellite, cellular and radio communications consultancy and provider of data and tracking solutions and managed services for land, air and sea.

Our client is looking for a Senior Satellite Engineer to join their growing business and help ongoing projects and to help them grow further.

Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, technical implementation and ongoing support of a variety of customer networks, utilising TSAT / VSAT / BGAN / Ka SAT / MSAT and other variants of satellite technology, typically from our headquarters in Churcham, Gloucestershire.
• Will be an integral member of the team and will be exposed to projects (Proof of Concepts, Full Implementation, Change Management) with high-profile customers from the outset.
• They will be expected to have excellent knowledge of Serial and IP Networking, SCADA and PLC implementation and maintenance.
• To be a customer trusted advisor, using knowledge of these networks,
• The ability to control calls with significant customers, steering them to the correct solution for all parties, is key to ensuring we gain confidence and retain repeat custom.
• Be required to make and enact recommendations across the full range of variables within an integrated network, including but not limited to link budgets for satellite, throughput thresholds & lowering data overheads, hardware from antennas/BUCS/LNBS to routers & VMS, and data security.
• Be expected to contribute to Support workflows, and act as an escalation point for technical issues where Tier 1 & Tier 2 Support require intervention.
• To contribute to the support team on-call rota, which would be expected to run approximately 1 in 5 weeks.
• Be able to work on a on call bases if required on projects and testing on a rotation basis.
• Work as team player and work with other engineers and aid and training to other team members to facilitate the growth of the team and wider business and to ensure ongoing low escalation volumes.
• Be excellent at time-management and be able to progress project work independently.
• Required to travel to fulfil business needs, be that one of our other locations or a customer site, within the UK or abroad.
• Be expected to travel with reasonable notice and be prepared to be away from home for several days.

Day to Day Responsibilities
• Day Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Project work in designing & implementing customer satellite solutions, including attendance on customer-facing calls.
• Escalated support cases
• Regular Technical and Support team contribution
• Providing out of office hours support as part of a on call rota.
• Undertake all training as provided by the company.

Other Duties
• Stock Control measures (including potential for monthly stock count)
• Regular phone/video calls with team/management
• Responsibility to ensure they are complying with appropriate national and regional guidelines & restrictions regarding to Covid-19.
• PPE provided by the business as appropriate for customer site and office-based work.
• Work from home on occasions to reduce exposure of all employees, and as such employees should ensure they have a suitable and comfortable workspace to access safely, with a good quality internet connection.

Experience & Skills
5 years’ experience in designing, implementing & troubleshooting VSAT network solutions.
Degree or HND in Computer Networking or close equivalent course

Experience:
Be able to demonstrable experience of designing, implementing & troubleshooting VSAT network solutions is a must.
Experience with specific satellite technologies such as MSAT, BGAN, TSAT, Ka SAT would be a clear advantage.
Experience integrating IP & Serial environments.
A history of high-profile project management & delivery would be beneficial.
Produce Documentation:

Full clean UK Driving licence (Required)
Right to Work in the UK (Required)
Valid passport (Required)
Basic DBS Pass Clearance or any other UK Security Clearance

Education:
Per the Prerequisites section, formal education in relevant areas such as Networking would be a particular advantage.

Benefits & Allowances
Salary range of £35k - £37k, plus £200 on-call fee, plus call-out payments.
