My client who are the UK’s market leader in powered access platform hire, equipment sales and IPAF training are now seeking to recruit a Location Service Manager for their Cosby location.

You will be reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, and you will have a team of Engineers, Apprentices, Yard Personal and painters reporting to you in your specified region.

Your role will be to maintain smooth operation of local engineering activities and maintain the location and fleet assets in accordance with company standards

Therefore, your key tasks will include:
• Have input into preparation and delivery of engineering policies and procedures
• Be an ambassador for and ensure compliance of Quality, Health & Safety standards, and policies
• Ensure continuous improvement in all engineering standards by mentoring engineering staff, including apprentices
• Deliver equipment availability and reliability performance at optimal cost
• Support engineering staff on technical matters to achieve all time bound objectives and quality standards
• Drive up engineering quality standards and trends across areas of responsibility
• React to engineering incidents or issues that may arise within areas of responsibility
• Liaise closely with senior management on reducing and saving costs with external parts and service providers when required
• Interpret data and report on corrective actions to address underperformance or non-compliance
• Monitor the quality of service provided by suppliers
• Ensure that all workshop staff are motivated and developed to achieve Depot and Company targets
• Identify training development, tool and equipment needs of depot engineering personnel
• Ensure that all inspections of machines are in conformance with manufacturer’s specification, company policy and the regulations affecting the use. Ensure that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine. Notify the appropriate manager of any serious defect or unsafe equipment as required
• Act as an ambassador for the company, providing a high standard of customer care and being polite at all times. Relay appropriate customer queries to depot staff as required
• Maintain high levels of personal appearance, ensuring uniform and personal protective equipment are used correctly
• Maintain high standard of quality and compliance of all engineering paperwork
• Ensure all manufacturer technical bulletins are communicated and actioned
• Complete planned maintenance activities including maintaining the appearance of the fleet to corporate standard
• Accurately complete all relevant paperwork including engineer’s report, post/pre hire inspection and service sheets
• Carry out handovers and familiarisation as required

To be eligible for this role you will need the following qualification and experience:
• IPAF Operator Licence would be advantageous, but training will be given.
• Presents themselves and their company vehicle (if applicable) in an acceptable and tidy manner
• Able to balance short- and long-term goals, is motivated to hit performance targets and assigns clear levels of responsibility
• The ability to rise to a challenge or change, resolve conflict and find a successful way forward
• The power to use technical knowledge, experience and interpersonal skills to gain the agreement and respect of others
• The ability to clarify goals and objectives to work to an agreed pattern of output and to prioritise tasks and activities
• The ability to work in such a way that maintains and improves business processes and structure
• Have full command of the company operating system (L-Vis)
• Able to assess the technical capability of engineering staff
• Have full command of the company administration processes including the Enable platform
• Provide leadership and ensure compliance with QHSE requirements and legislation
• Use all equipment, tools and PPE as prescribed in a safe and proper manner
• Ability to communicate with internal or external customers to resolve issues or queries satisfactorily
• Ability to leverage best value for the company from all supply chains
• Ability to locate, fit, dismantle, reassemble, and refurbish hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical components.

The ideal candidate would probably come from a strong engineering background and who is now seeking to step up into a more managerial role, or someone who is in the process of leaving the services as either SNCO/WO who has managed a service line or LAD function and is seeking their first step into a civilian role.

Most of your time will be working behind a desk or meeting clients, but there may me occasions where you will have to roll up your sleeves and work alongside of the engineers.
