Controls Engineer (228jc) – Wakefield – Excellent Salary and Package

My client, who is an international manufacturing with over 360,000 personnel across the globe are now seeking to recruit an experience Controls Engineer for its Wakefield site.

They are a company that in their own words “MAKE THINGS THAT MAKE OTHER THINGS GO” and have worked on projects such as London Eye, Tower Bridge and Thames Water Barrier. With a UK Turnover exceeding £200 million in 2021 and having set a target of £260 million in 2025 they are seeking to recruit high calibre individuals to help them achieve this target.

You will be reporting to a team leader, and be part of a 4-man team, and your role will be as follows:
• To take accountability for producing electrical, electronic, and turnkey controls systems designs and quotations for defined industry sector(s).
• Support the achievement of sales and profit targets and the provision of superior service in a high quality, timely, cost-effective, and resource-efficient way.
• To have an understanding of the application of different control technologies in different application areas and be capable of handling high level projects with support from the PMO department.

This role has a number of objectives and task and for more information please contact, but basically, they are looking for a seasoned engineer who can design an engineering solution from a blank piece of paper to final solution, effectively liaising with other departments to make sure that the solution is what the client needs and it effective and deliverable.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following:
• Minimum of HND level qualification in controls engineering discipline OR significant relevant technical/engineering experience.
• Experience with electro-hydraulic control system design including PLC systems and software, instrumentation, and closed loop control (PID).
• PLC Programming skills and skills in other software development languages
• Experience with Control system simulation (beneficial but not mandatory).
• Understanding of electro-hydraulic system design.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, e.g., EN60204, BS7671, EN13894
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• Good interpersonal skills
• MS Office skills
• Ability to use SAP integrated systems would also be highly beneficial, but another integrated IT systems knowledge would also be accepted.

The ideal candidate would probably be someone who has left the military and is seeking to join a truly international company where the ability to move within the company is not only anticipated but is also highly desirable. There is also a possibility for this a suitably qualified individual to be moved up to the Team Leader role within 18 to 24 months.
