Project Manager (289jc) vacancy in Stevenage ()

My client and expanding communications engineering company with nationwide contracts are now seeking Project Managers due to massive growth by acquisition and normal expansion to take over responsibility for the various projects.

You will be reporting to the Programme Manager and you principal job responsibilities will include:-
• Working closely with the Business Development / Sales team to engage on new business and to understand scope and requirements, construct Statements of Work and negotiate with customers on project requirements.
• Acting initially as the main point of contact on opportunities and constructing a project delivery mechanism against those requirements.
• Responsible for managing the delivery team, reporting on progress and issue resolution to both the customer and AVC management.
• Running projects in accordance with the specified methodology
• Responsibility for managing projects throughout the project lifecycle
• Providing appropriate management reporting information as required
• Liasing with customers and suppliers, both internal and external, including managing customer expectations
• Undertaking profit and loss responsibility for all projects
• Undertaking project team management responsibilities as directed by the Company
• Carrying out other duties as directed by the Programme Manager

Therefore your responsibility and authority will include
• Managing the activities of a ‘project team’ and resources to meet budget requirements on assigned projects
• Setting project teams and individual objectives and evaluating progress
• Reviewing performance of project team and agreeing corrective actions where appropriate
• Ensuring that all responsibilities are met in accordance with company procedures and the Staff Handbook
• Ensuring that the overall quality, health and safety and security objectives are met, particularly in respect of business processes
• Understanding the need for confidentiality when dealing with both internal and external information
• Understanding contractual requirements to maintain integrity of data and the availability of the service at all times
• Maintaining a high level of personal integrity
• Ensuring an appropriate appreciation of legal requirements regarding data protection and computer misuse for the proper performance of duties

To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills and experience
• Customer Facing and Presentation Skills
• Negotiation skills
• Good documentation and process skills
• Structured methodology (Prince, PMI)
• Full P&L Responsibility
• Ability to work on own initiative and identify opportunities
• Ability to work on multiple projects and delegate work when required
• Relevant industry experience on deployment, infrastructure, projects
• Formal Project Management Qualification preferred but not essential
• Minimum 2-3 years project management experience in a similar environment
• Experience and working knowledge of different project management methodologies
• Previous project team management experience
• Current valid driving licence is essential
• Flexible to work additional and varied hours when necessary, to meet the demands of the job.
• Flexibility to travel may be required to fulfil aspects of the role, either to Company or Customer sites within UK or abroad
