Our Client, a major oil production company established in 1962 with operations in the North Sea and elsewhere across the globe is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Safety Engineer to be responsible for supporting the Head of Technical Assurance in ensuring that all Major Accident Hazard Risk is suitably managed in accordance with UK Legislative requirements and Company specific criteria within the Company Operations Directorate (production and projects)

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
• Support a working culture based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
• Build effective working relationships with other departments in the Company and other parties as appropriate.
• Provision of technical safety support and advice to operational and project personnel within the Operations Directorate to ensure good practice standards employed consistent with existing standard of care.
• Co-ordination of activities undertaken by external safety consultants, and review of deliverables.
• Co-ordination of and participation in technical safety risk assessment activities (HAZID, HAZOP, QRAs, etc.) for project work.
• Lead or support technical safety engineering studies in house including (Concept ALARP Reviews, Risk Impact Studies, dropped object studies, specialist studies).
• Support the Technical Safety Engineering Technical Authority (HSSEQ) in the provision of generic specific standards, procedures and systems that ensure a high level of asset integrity, availability and enable the installation License to Operate (LtO) to be maintained.
• Participate in scoping, provide solution and delivery of solution within budget and to the agreed outcome.
• Work with relevant interfaces to ensure that discipline input to IAP activities etc are identified in a timely manner and that of any adverse consequences of changes are mitigated and reflected in an updated IAP.
• Responsible for the provision of generic discipline timely and appropriate cost estimates and schedules for work programmes and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with the stage gate, change request processes, findings from audits and reviews and participate in incident investigations as requested.
• Contribute to good, open communication within the generic engineering department, promoting a culture of involvement and participation and adherence to Company values.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Appropriate engineering qualification and preferably be a Chartered Engineer.
• Relevant experience, preferable in an Operational Engineering or Support role within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Can demonstrate a detailed knowledge of UK Safety Case Regulations and relevant statutory provisions.
• Proven experience in the use of Technical Safety Design and Assessment Methods
• Good understanding of offshore operations.
• Knowledge of associated technical/engineering disciplines.
• Ability to create positive relations to peers and stakeholders internally and externally.
• Proven experience in the use of Technical Safety Design and Assessment Methods.
• Ability to prioritise tasks within a diverse range of activities, and directing team focus, to deliver key business objectives.
• A high level of communication and presentation skills, combined with strong interpersonal skills, to effectively work as part of a team.
