Our Client, a major oil production company established in 1962 with operations in the North Sea and elsewhere across the globe is looking to appoint a Process Safety Engineer to be responsible for developing and sustaining an Organisational Process Safety Culture within the Operations Directorate (production and projects) the by driving the development of Operating Procedures and Safe Working Practices, and compliance with them to ensure the management of risk to people is as low as practicable.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
• Provision of Operations Directorate input into maintaining the Company’s Process Safety Manual up to date, reflecting current and best practice.
• Monitoring performance of the Process Safety Management System, as applicable to the activities within the Operations Directorate.
• Contributing to cross-organisation communication on Process Safety issues.
• Presenting the Operations Directorate Process Safety performance status on a regular basis to senior management.
• Providing guidance and support for compliance with processes and procedures in the Operations Directorate aimed at managing and reducing risk.
• Identification of Process Safety improvement opportunities within the Operations Directorate and participation in Company Process Safety improvement initiatives.
• Working in collaboration with specialists and engineers of all disciplines across other parts of MONS to develop and simplify procedures and processes.
• To promote learning from process and operational safety related incidents by analysis of incident trends and causes.
• Maintaining knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to process operations and process safety.
• Maintaining and assisting with development of Technical and Performance Standards.
• Supporting HSSEQ in carrying out audit programmes to measure compliance with operating procedures.
• Supporting Head of Technical Assurance in delivering Company Operations Directorate related performance targets.
• Participating in Operations Directorate recruitment, mentoring and training activities.
• Representing the company at industry, regulatory, national and/or international level, where appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Educated to degree level or similar in an engineering discipline and preferably be a Chartered Engineer.
• Broad knowledge of Major Accident Hazards and Risk Management in the upstream business.
• Practical experience of field operations, preferably offshore, including process safety practices.
• Expert knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements, HSE management systems and industry HSE standards.
• Knowledge of associated technical/engineering disciplines.
• Familiar with UK industry regulations relating to the oil and gas industry.
• Effective relationship-builder at all levels, internally and externally.
• Effective communicator both written and verbal.
