TQ Education and Training is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies, both in the UK and overseas. As a result of continued growth, we have a requirement for NVQ Assessors/Internal Verifiers.

The Assessors will be responsible for assessing military students in the following subject areas: Engineering Maintenance & Installation, Engineering, Fabrication & Welding, Information & Communications Technology, Construction (Plant Operations) and Warehousing & Storage. You will support student progress through assessment in the workplace and curriculum delivery. You will be responsible for judging evidence of competence produced by trainees against the applicable national standard and deciding whether the trainee has demonstrated competence. Duties will include:

•Support and mentor trainees in their studies including assessing and giving feedback in the workplace, preparing assessment records and reports on student progress
•Effectively co-ordinate on and off the job learning and assessment activities
•Undertake vocational assessments in the workplace
•Develop/maintain good working relationship with client to secure/retain training opportunities for trainees
•Carry out on-site risk assessments to ensure the client has appropriate health and safety arrangements in place and to ensure client is aware of their responsibilities in relation to equal opportunities and other relevant legislation
•Work with client to develop their assessment capability and support their work-based assessors through internal verification
•Liaise with fellow Assessors/Verifiers to improve and where possible standardise and simplify the assessment and verification systems
•Maintain and distribute consistent and accurate records of trainee progress
•Attend meetings as required to discuss NVQ and Quality Assurance issues
•Follow all agreed Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Management systems and comply with all policies and procedures (eg. Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities) and ensure that these policies are followed
•Undertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development, ensuring your own assessment practice confirms with awarding body requirements.

POST REQUIREMENTS:
Essential
•Assessor and Verifier qualifications (A1/V1)
•Thorough understanding of the NVQ framework and assessment methodology and recent assessing experience
•Experience of working in a vocationally specific industry and occupational competency in one or more of the above-listed areas
•A working knowledge of Health & Safety
•Good ICT skills
•Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
•Full current driving licence or ability to travel to employers’ premises

Desirable
•Level 3 qualification or equivalent
•Health & Safety IOSH qualification
•First Aid Certificate
•Evidence of ongoing professional development

Location: Chatham, Kent & Camberley, Surrey

Package: Competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and contributory pension + life assurance.

Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday

Start date: August 2011
