TQ Education and Training is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies, both in the UK and overseas. As a result of continued growth, we have a requirement for Functional/Key Skills Teachers.

The Teachers will be responsible for delivering functional/key skills – Literacy, Numeracy and Information & Communictions Techology (IT) training to military students. You will deliver and assess a range of courses within your area of subject specialism, act as tutor and facilitate the compilation and assessing of portfolios of evidence. Duties to include:

•Teach on a range of courses, primarily Functional/Key Skills
•Support and motivate trainees in their studies
•Undertake other specified duties including tutorial support and associated administrative tasks
•Have available an up to date syllabus and schemes of work (showing methods of delivery) for each course/class taught
•Prepare suitable teaching and learning materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a range of appropriate delivery methodologies
•Maintain accurate records as required of all student assessed work and report progress or otherwise at appropriate course team meetings
•Set, assess and maintain records of all examinations or end of unit assessments
•Develop/maintain good working relationship with client to secure/retain training opportunities for trainees
•Liaise with fellow teachers/colleagues to improve and where possible standardise and simplify systems and processes
•Follow all agreed Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Management systems and comply with all policies and procedures (eg. Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities) and ensure that these policies are followed
•Undertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development, ensuring your own teaching practice conforms with standards

POST REQUIREMENTS:

Essential
•Experience of delivering functional/key skills
•Relevant teaching/training background, preferably within education/training sector
•Knowledge/understanding of the NVQ framework
•Good ICT skills
•Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
•Flexible, adaptable and enthusiastic team-workers
•Full current driving licence or ability to travel to employers’ premises

Desirable
•Level 3 qualification, or relevant teaching/training qualification
•A1 qualification (D32/D33)
•Health & Safety awareness
•Evidence of ongoing professional development

Location: Chatham, Kent & Camberley, Surrey

Package: Competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and contributory pension + life assurance.

Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday

Start date: August 2011
