My client is one of the world-leading international organisations in the field of optics with locations throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. Due to company expansion they are now looking for additional personnel to build on the team.

You will be reporting to the Development Engineering Manager and this role is one of the core disciplines that determine the company’s ability to develop and deliver new and existing products in a cost effective manner.

The key optical engineering activity within Test Engineering is to develop test strategies for new optical products, specifying test equipment, methods and acceptance limits.

Therefore your key responsibilities will include:-
• Define the manner in which optical products are tested to ensure they ensure they meet the customer requirements
• Specify, design and develop Optical Test Equipment ensure that their products are tested in an efficient and cost effective manner
• Produce documentation to define and control the test process
• Define and perform First Article tests and qualification activities to demonstrated that designs meet required specifications
• Produce documentation to define and control the test process
• Provide assistance to colleagues in Manufacturing departments
• Maintain an awareness of current optical engineering techniques

Personal Specification
• Educated to at least first degree level, preferably in Physics/Optical engineering
• A technical background with strong analytical skills and practical ability
• Strong attention to detail and good inter-personal skills
• The ability to work with and support business groups and other engineering functions
• Details knowledge of optical imaging systems
• Experience of working with dynamic project teams and using structured problem solving techniques

It would also be useful if you had the following skills and experience:-
• Confidently liaise with customers ands suppliers on product specifications/performance matters
• A strong set of PC Skills, including programming using LabView, Visual C++ and Excel Micros
• The ability to interface hardware with PC’s
• Ability to communicate and feedback with all departments

It is also anticipated that the successful individuals will undertake an internal training programme involving secondment to other internal departments.

Because of the nature of the work undertaken at my clients' site, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and therefore are only open to British Citizens. All selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance.
