Our Client is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to be accountable to the Head of Supply Chain Management for the delivery of strategic sourcing solutions that reduced the through life risk and cost of the Programme. To act in accordance with commercial and procurement standards, policies and processes

Key accountabilities
Performance Delivery - as a Manager within the Supply Chain Management function:
• Lead the development and implementation of corporate sourcing strategies that deliver value for money of the total cost of ownership and meet contractual and regulatory standards and requirements
• Ensure appropriate peer review and legal reviews are undertaken
• Ensure effective governance and communications are in place across the business to ensure compliance with corporate sourcing strategies
• Ensure the Company’s contractual obligations are met by suppliers
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
• Identify and lead opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of strategic sourcing arrangements
• Ensure the Company’s compliance with contractual obligations to their external customers, including the MoD

Responsibilities
• Financially Successful -
• Delivering demonstrable value for money of the total cost of ownership through effective procurement strategies
• Verify through audit, monitoring and management review that contracts placed reduce the risk of financial loss and have effective pricing mechanisms and contractual protection
• Ensure that claims are managed effectively, mitigating the impact on the Company and are dealt with justly
Ensure the understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards

Qualifications
• MCiPS

Knowledge
• Expert knowledge of category management, supplier management and contracting
• Expert knowledge of UK contracting, contract law and pricing principles including the tendering and bidding process
• Expert knowledge of general contract (including US), procurement and pricing principles
• Expert knowledge of and the ability to draft Business Agreements (Alliance, Teaming, Collaboration, Confidentiality, MOUs, Heads of etc)
• Robust and working knowledge of Project, Risk and Performance Management
• Expert knowledge of Intellectual Property and mechanisms for its exploitation
• General legal awareness

Experience
• Substantial experience in a similar environment and led and participated in significant contracts
• The development and implementation of commercial strategies
• The management of commercial teams and negotiation of complex requirements through to contract award
• Development and negotiation of Business Agreements
• Managing Supply Chain engagement (including procurement activities)
• Managing and developing and motivating a high performing team
• The development of new processes/improvements in support of the business
• Supplier and customer relationships
• Managing and facilitating decision based outcomes
• Producing and influencing sound business strategies to deliver savings and efficiencies
• Ability to deal with complex business issues
• Interface and reporting effectively with senior management across the business
• Managing problem solving/negotiation of significant settlements to resolve, minimise or mitigate commercial risks
• Managing the delivery of innovative thinking and approaches
• Understanding of legal principles in a commercial/business environment
