Our Client is seeking an experienced engineer to provide all aspects of quality control associated with the production of high value components and assemblies.

Key accountabilities
• Engaged in product Inspection and Quality improvement activities in pursuit of
Company ‘Right First Time’ zero defect goals
• Support the collection and analysis of Quality control data to monitor and improve system, process and product performance. Application of process improvement tools to drive process improvements eg Lean and six sigma, Defect Analysis, Process surveillance, 5S, Kaizen
• Operation of latest generation inspection and metrology equipment including, Co-ordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Inspection arms and bespoke equipment
• Development of inspection processes utilising a range of commercial software packages
• Support manufacturing area process and system audit programme
• Perform audit and inspection of sub-contract manufactured components in support of our supplier performance monitoring arrangements
• Quality control, inspection, test and certification of components and assemblies
• Provide Quality Control and Quality Assurance support to manufacturing
• Monitor system, process and product performance and make recommendations for improvement action
• Provide support and advice for the use of quality tools and improvement methods

Responsibilities
• The quality control and certification of component production
• Use of inspection and test equipment (examples include physical and visual inspection methods, co-ordinate measuring machines, compressive/tensile test machines and non destructive techniques)
• Use and update of Production Information Management System data
• Liaise with production departments to ensure consistent product quality
• Maintenance of quality data for the section and defect analysis
• Conducting quality investigations and audits
• Review and update of Quality procedures/instructions and Quality Control Plans
• Developing and maintaining management system documentation
• To ensure that responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards are met and understood

Qualifications
• ONC/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
• Desirable: Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute

Knowledge
• Good understanding of the ISO 9000 series of quality standards
• Knowledge of quality control and assurance principles
• Good working knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques
• Understanding of engineering drawing and geometrical tolerancing
• Knowledge of quality improvement tools (e.g. Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma) and their practical application

Experience
• Mechanical engineering/inspection experience
• Use of inspection and test equipment (examples include physical and visual inspection methods, co-ordinate measuring machines, compressive/tensile test machines non-destructive testing)
• Application of quality tools and/or improvement methodologies

Skills
• Ability to use basic metrology equipment and co-ordinate Measuring Machine operation
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Perform basic mathematical calculations
• Application of Quality Improvement tools
• Use of Personal Computer applications

Behaviours
• Safety conscious (awareness of Health and safety at work)
• Ability to work on own initiative and within a small team
• Ability to work carefully and accurately with minimal supervision
• Working effectively with others towards common goals
• Clear, concise, fluent and unambiguous in exchange of information at all levels
