Our Client is seeking an experienced engineer for the provision and implementation of work control measures within the Facility, through an Operations Control Centre, to ensure safe and efficient work activities and interactions

Key accountabilities
• Ensure application of a Safe System of Work process within the Facility by use of a Permit-to-Work and Work Authorisation system in accordance with Company Safety Instructions
• Act as Facility Permit Controller and authorise all Work Authorisations, ensuring work packages are safe and operationally correct, taking into account safety case requirements, other authorisations such as CEAR, and modification control applicability and hold points

Responsibilities
• To ensure that responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards are met and understood
• Ensure, in conjunction with the Duty Shift Manager, that building services are operated within the Safe Operating Envelope and that work packages are assessed and monitored against the prevailing plant conditions, with the appropriate level of controls in place
• Ensure all work activities are carried out in a coordinated manner with all necessary deconfliction undertaken
• Maintain adequate and accurate documentation to support the coordination of activities and compliance with Company Safety Instructions and Facility requirements
• Co-ordinate as necessary with External Bodies proposing work activities within the Facility
• Monitor and periodically audit the worksite to ensure all work is being carried out within the boundaries of Facility approval and authorisation
• Ensure the development and maintenance of a good safety culture and promote best engineering practise
• To advise on all technical matters concerning Emergency Response exercises
• Facility Permit Controller

Qualifications
• HNC and Engineering experience, or demonstrable equivalent
• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship

Knowledge
• Wide Engineering background
• Company Assurance requirements
• UK Health and Safety legislation
• Facility Safety Case – key hazards, outputs and awareness; such as safety mechanisms and EMIT systems

Experience
• Demonstrable work-related experience

Skills
• Computer literate
• Effective communications, both written and oral
• Sound and reliable judgement
• Conflict resolution
• Good organisational and reporting skills

• Maintain high standards of work
• Flexible and responsive to change
• Special Requirements
• Willing and able to become a Monitored/Classified Radiation Worker

Because of the nature of the work undertaken at my clients' site, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and therefore are only open to British Citizens.
