You be reporting to the Support Manager and you will be required to manage and be responsible for all technical issues associated with the Sonar 209. The successful candidate will also manage the technical issues of 6 systems currently with the Royal Navy. This will include OPDEFs, rectification, Maintenance, Safety and training.
Roles and Responsibilities
• First line support to RN Platforms, trials engineers and integration engineers - managing defects, questions, system rotations. Point of contact for external and internal customers.
• Defect & Fault analysis - Monitoring trends in failures (FRACAS)
• Responsible for the installation, setting to work, acceptance, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems and equipment within the scope of the assigned project or programme, in an efficient and effective manner to assure minimum down time and maximum performance. Working to the highest quality standards, while assuring a professional and safe working environment.
• As directed by the Support Manager; responsible for communicating system performance to the customer and responsible for the safe and correct diagnosis of faults, removal, repair, test, implementation and operation of all aspects of the assigned system.
• Production of customer specific documentation including interface documents, FAT, HAT and SAT documents, and training material for the assigned project/ systems, and the delivery of related customer Training.
• As directed by the Support Manager; liaison with the customer, subcontractors and end users on first line technical and operational aspects of the assigned system.
• Maintenance of relevant records pertaining to; System configuration, system status, Operational defects, FRACAS, and for analysis and response to S2022 reporting.
• Support to Trials Team Leader in the execution of trials activity associated with support programme. Focal point for maintenance and updates of the RN UMMS system. Champion for appropriate and timely resolution of system/product technical issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential
• Experienced and competence in a broad range of Engineering skills
• Self-reliant and self-motivated with the ability to motivate and inspire others
• Articulate with well-developed verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with customers, sub-contractors and engineering design team
• Physically fit and comfortable in the marine environment
• Innovative, flexible and versatile
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools
• Regular travel within UK and Overseas required
• Defence industry experience
Desirable
• Experience of the formal acceptance of Naval systems and/or Naval systems experience/ background will be a distinct advantage.
• Installation/ commission experience on RN systems.
• Fault location on engineering systems.
• Knowledge of Towed and hull mounted sonar systems would be useful.
• Technical education to HNC or higher in an Electronics, Electrical or Electro-mechanical Engineering discipline
Qualification/Other:
• Security Clearance to UK SECRET will be required
• Full UK Driving licence
