Our Client is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician Driver to be responsible for the 1st and 2nd line maintenance and repair of specialist mission critical vehicles. The servicing, maintenance and repair of Company vehicles and plant as directed. During deployed operations carrying out the relevant driver/fitter role specified

Key accountabilities
• Accountable to the Workshop Team Leaders for ensuring the maintenance and repair of vehicles is carried out efficiently to Company and legislative requirements

Responsibilities
Technician Driver
• Ensuring compliance with Company Instructions and Procedures
• During deployed operations responsible to the Safety Officer for the safe driving of and carriage of specialist cargo in accordance with current directives with particular reference to JSP 483 and operating procedures
• Ensuring compliance of Safe Systems of Work within the Logistics Business Area
• Support the Logistics Managers as required
Other Duties
• Provide Fitter and Driver support to other tasks
• Support any maintenance/driving activity as directed
• Provide on-call cover as directed
• Ensure the understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards, ensuring compliance with Company instructions and procedures

Qualifications
• Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Licence (Cat “C + E” unrestricted) is essential
• A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to C&G or equivalent NVQ standard is essential
• Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) Licence (Cat “D”) is preferred, but training can and will be given
• VTC for all UN classes of Dangerous Goods in Tanks and Packages is preferred, but training can and will be given
• Continuation and Refresher Training as defined in relevant Competency and Training Manual
• Company Mandatory training requirements for Off Site/Workshop duties - training will be provided

Knowledge
• Understanding of technical and professional aspects of the role and continually maintains appropriate technical knowledge, including up to date awareness of safety legislation, standards, directives and operating procedures
• An understanding of the Company Site and Organisation. This includes an understanding of other inter-related Departmental requirements - candidates would be expected to take an interest and develop this over time

Experience
• Suitable experience within a commercial vehicle workshop environment
• ADR (All UN Classes by Road in Packages)

Skills
• Computer literate to a standard applicable to your role
• Communication skills (both written and oral)
• Organisational skills

Behaviours
• Ability to maintain effective work behaviours
• Ability to successfully respond to changing demands and conditions
• Effective in a multi task role, working to given timescales
• Able to make systematic and rational judgements based on relevant information
• Good interpersonal skills

Special Requirements
• Travelling required – working and training for periods of time away from home
• Meet industrial standards for colour perception
• Willing and able to undertake the full range of duties
• Willing and able to wear a respirator

Because of the nature of the work undertaken at my clients' site, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and therefore are only open to British Citizens. All selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance. The MoD rules state that in order to have access to this level of information, candidates "must be British as defined in the British Nationality Act 1981"
