You will be reporting to the Waste Yard Manager and you will have Maintenance Technician and Incinerator Operators reporting to you and your objective will be to ensure that the equipment and machinery in the Deep South Waste Yard is operational, through the application of sound maintenance techniques and planning in accordance with the overall maintenance plan.
Therefore your Primary Responsibilities will include the following:-
• responsible for the maintenance of the plant for the Deep South Waste Yard
• responsible for the operations of the 4 main incineration systems
• establish and follow a preventive maintenance program for the waste yard equipment, including (but not limited to) incinerators, shredders, conveyer system, ammunition incinerator, and balers
• work with the Supervisors and lead hands to ensure that operator maintenance is conducted correctly on these systems
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, establishing priorities for repair in conjunction with the Supervisor or Waste Manager and ensuring that all maintenance activities are recorded using the onsite defect reporting system. Conduct running repairs on the systems
• utilize the Work Order Management System to plan, report and record maintenance status, use of parts, material and labour, and to order parts and material
• ensure adequate parts and stock levels are maintained on hand to support minimum down-time.
• ensure that equipment is calibrated when required, and that this information is recorded
• provides direction to the Maintenance Technician and helpers
• liaises with internal and external contacts to arrange corrective maintenance work that it outside of qualifications
Additional Responsibilities:-
• Be available to work outside of normal working hours to attend to calls for emergency repairs
Therefore you will need to have the following knowledge and core skills:
Essential Requirement:
• Day to day trouble shooting, repair and installation of low and high voltage (single/ 3 phase) industrial electromechanical & control systems for utility & production equipment.
• Work independently in troubleshooting and repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers and related components when required
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Have some experience working on mechanical systems
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Ability to diagnose problems and deliver on time solutions whilst working alongside the Waste Manager/Supervisors
• Industrial plant experience is essential
• Workplace safety training is essential
• Must have competency in the use of Computers - Microsoft Office suite
• Must have competent English skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking
• Must have valid driver’s license
Desired Requirements:
• Qualified mechanical engineer an advantage
• PLC certificate preferred.
• SIEMENS training certificate (Simatic S7 Systems) Completion of correspondence courses such as: Operator Math, Operator Chemistry and Water Quality Control
• Experience with hydraulic systems
Certifications Required:
• 17th Edition Electrical qualification or equivalent including PCP’s
Equipment Operated:
• Hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, air compressors
• Standard office equipment including computer with Microsoft Office software suite
The client is offering and excellent salary and all food, accommodation, insurance flights etc. are being covered by the client, however the airfield is on 24 hr operation and you will be working a 24h day on day off shift pattern and the total number in the department is about 88 personnel at the moment.
The salary will $64,600 after finishing first 6 months probation, however youw ill be starting on $62,500 on a 4/1 month rotation.
