My client is a European technical services provider who has been established for over 100 years and operate in the fields of IT/Comms, electrical and mechanical solutions are now seeking a HSEQ Officer to join their team.

You will have overall responsibility for the introduction, monitoring and support management procedures and suitable documentation for compliance with appropriate standards relating to all matters associated with Health, Safety, Welfare, Environmental and Quality Control relevant to company activities.

You will be reporting to the Director responsible for HSEQ and you will be responsible for all Health, Safety, Environmental and quality systems & operations.

Therefore your duties and responsibilities will include the following:-

HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE
• Statutory Obligations: Identify statutory obligations relevant to company activities. Review and identify specific requirements for introduction into company procedures.
• Procedures: Maintain, develop & introduce appropriate formal procedures to ensure company compliance with all obligations. Monitor at least annually, review and update as appropriate.
• Standard Forms/Documentation: Maintain, Develop and introduce standard form and documents to support of company Health, Safety and welfare procedures. Monitor, review and update as required.
• Project Specific Support: Prepare and issue documentation appropriate to specific project requirements for compliance with the client and company procedures and statutory obligations to include Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Method statements and other related issues.
• Health & Safety – Induction: Provide all new employees, as part of the company induction process with a Health & Safety briefing to include the issue of all appropriate documentation.
• Welfare: Liaison & advise with the project engineers & Human resource manager on all personnel related matters (In particular any claims arising in respect of public Liability Insurance).
• Incident Management:
• Investigate, review and report on specific incidents compliant with statutory requirements. Maintain appropriate records and advise on appropriate action. Repeat as required in accordance with current legislation & authorised regulatory body.

ENVIRONMENTAL
• Standards and Legislation: Monitor current standards and legislation. Identify relevance to company activities and respond as appropriate.
• Policy: Maintain company Environmental Policy Statement and supporting documentation. Modify and update as appropriate.
• Procedures: Develop, Introduce and Maintain written company procedures for compliance with the current European standard (ISO 14001) & our Environmental Policy Statement. Modify and update as appropriate.
• Waste Disposal: Maintain appropriate Registration and Certification status for compliance with current environmental regulations to suit company requirements for waste disposal. Arrange and co-ordinate all waste disposal activities in accordance with current regulations including document preparation and submission.

QUALITY SYSTEMS
• Standards and Legislation: Monitor current standards and legislation. Identify relevance to company activities and respond as appropriate.
• Policy: Develop & Maintain company Quality Policy Statement and supporting documentation. Modify and update as appropriate.
• Procedures: Develop, Introduce and Maintain written company procedures for compliance with the current European standard (ISO 9000) &/or other appropriate National/international/client standards. Modify and update as appropriate
• Publications and Documentation: Create and maintain a record library of publications, guidance notes relevant to statutory obligations, etc. associated with Health, Safety, Environmental and quality issues.
• Audit: Monitor and audit procedures and administrative systems in respect to the Health, Safety, environmental and quality issues. Recommend change and improvement where appropriate. Update and reissue as required.
• Liaise with and assist external Specialist Consultants appointed for independent audit and advice purposes. Maintain appropriate records and respond to Consultants requests as required. Ensure that corrective actions of the company system or independent audits are cleared as required to ensure compliance to the company Health Safety, Environmental & quality policies.
• Assess the auditing procedure at least annually, including the consideration to take the auditing role of sites into an internal auditing system.

SPECIFIC PROJECTS
• Quality Assurance Procedures: Produce fully documented quality assurance procedures for compliance with ISO 9000, based upon existing company standard documentation and systems.
• Environmental Procedures: Produce fully documented Environmental procedures for compliance with ISO 14001, based upon existing company standard documentation and systems. Amending the company policy as required.
• Other Projects: Provide resource and support to undertake specific projects as required.

The ideal individual would be an individuals who has experience in this type of role and who has minimum of a NEBOSH qualifications and possibly working towards their way to the Institute of Facility’s Management qualification.
