Senior Systems Engineer (136jc) vacancy in North London ()

My client, who is a leader in the supply of navigation and surveillance systems to both the military and civilian sectors for a number of years are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their expanding team.

You will be reporting to the Coastal Surveillance Systems Group Leader and Design Authority and you role will be to ensure that consistent and compliant System Solutions are delivered to customers, meeting the needs of the Surveillance Systems business.

Therefore your job functions will include the following:-

• Definition and delivery of Systems solutions for the Surveillance Systems business
• Technical support to Sales and Marketing including generating information to support bids, technical presentations to customers, generation of product specifications and attendance at customer meetings
• Provide technical design solutions to support proposed system changes and bids ensuring appropriate compliance with customer, business and legislative requirements including safety
• Adopt a consistent approach to systems engineer activities throughout the design life cycle
• Take an active involvement in new product design, providing system level input from product definition through to release into production
• Maintain and support legacy/delivered systems including visits to customer sites and installations where necessary
• Monitor and, where possible, introduce up to date technology into Kelvin Hughes system designs
• Promote the work of my client in the field of Systems Engineering through attendance at conferences and seminars and where appropriate, through the presentation and publication of technical papers
• Travel within the UK and overseas is required, and is considered a regular feature of this role. Requests could be made at short notice.
• Any other tasks associated with this role

Therefore you will have key relationships within the following:
• Technical liaison within and outside the company, with customers, suppliers and collaborators on systems related matters
• Support the Head of System Engineering in the definition and implementation of Systems Engineering processes and practices across the department
• Act as a role model for more junior staff

To be elegible for this role you will need the following qualifications and skills:-
• Degree level qualification in Engineering / Mathematics / Science subject (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Knowledge of radar (or communications) system design and performance analysis
• Proven experience of integration and demonstration of equipment and subsequent acceptance by customer / end users
• Proven technical skills, relating to effective systems engineering, practical application of quality assurance and configuration control, as well as appropriate document generation
• Sound commercial/business awareness
• Sound inter-personal skills
• Computer literacy
• Be physical fit and able to work at height in excess of 40 meters, as well as able to work in confined spaces

In addition, you will need the ability to gain UK SC Clearance and as such you will need to be a UK citizen under the MoD regulation to National Security Clearance.
