My client an International Defence Prime is currently seeking a Surveyor Structural within the Marine & Technology division, based at Devonport, Plymouth.

Job Description:
To undertake surveys and relevant production support on Nuclear Submarines, Surface Ships and yard facilities and assets, general design office support

• To undertake surveys (structural and paint) as directed by the Survey Controller on Naval platforms and any other vessel or structure in a safe manner.
• Assist in the preparation of docks and provide support during Docking
• Produce drawings in support of refit/repair period Assist in the ‘Line out’ of compartments or equipment to meet schedules
• Support ventilation testing and alignment activities
• Produce clear and unambiguous written reports.
• Occasional travel and work off site may be required

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Good communication skills , both written and verbal
• Ensure the health and safety of self and others
• Team player, building effective working relationships
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Prepared to ask for help and guidance and act on this. Able to plan and organise workload
• Willing to learn and develop new skills
• Flexible approach
• Knowledge of Naval ships and submarines preferable
• Experience of Design
• Experience of relevant constructive standards

Qualifications

• Preferably Ordinary National Certificate qualified or extensive knowledge of constructive engineering
• A marine based engineering apprenticeship (constructive base an advantage)

Security:
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment. The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
