An innovative technology and engineering company is looking for a Sales Manager. The company has its roots in defence, but also works with clients in the aerospace, nuclear power, medical, pharmaceutical, and subsea industries, where design integrity, reliability and robustness are a common thread. Its success has been built upon a reputation for quality and reliability together with a flair for delivering the right solution to the problem.

The ideal candidate for the Sales Manager position will be from an engineering background and will have extensive experience in selling technology or technical solutions particularly into leading primes and tier 1 suppliers as well as government and academic organisations within the defence, aerospace or subsea sectors. Ideally, you will have a proven track record in B2B sales and be able to demonstrate a growth in sales revenue in recent relevant positions, and in identifying and developing potential new customers and opportunities. A key function of this role is spending a significant amount of time in the field visiting customers. In addition to the primary task of sales and business development you will:
• help to define further the sales strategy of the business and work closely with the team in executing against that strategy;
• make a significant and visible contribution to the business by achieving the revenue targets agreed with the business;
• seek out potential new markets where our skills and capabilities may also be relevant.

Skills

Suitable candidates must have some or all of the following skills or experience:
• New Business identification and development including winning new business (essential);
• Experience in a sales role (essential);
• A solid commercial background (highly desirable);
• A strong technical background, ideally in electronics or similar (highly desirable);
• A knowledge of one of more relevant industries such as defence, aerospace, subsea (highly desirable);
• The ability to build relationships with clients quickly;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill;
• Bid and proposal writing.

Qualifications

As well as experience and a proven track record you will ideally have formal training in:
• Cold Calling skills;
• Presentation Techniques;
• Negotiation Skills.

Ideally you will have a Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical subject or at least 5 years' experience in technical sales.

The remuneration for this role will consist of a package of basic salary of up to £35,000 plus a bonus of paid on achievement of the Company's revenue plan plus benefits
