My client an International Defence Prime is currently seeking a Design Services Support Team Platform Safety Engineer within the Marine & Technology division, based at Devonport, Plymouth

Job Description:
The Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG) provides multi-disciplinary technical and design support to the MoD's In Service Submarine (ISM) team, working closely with the customer in a joint team arrangement to support all in-service Royal Navy submarines.

Safety of the UK Submarine Fleet is of paramount importance and the Safety Engineer role is a key contributor in the Platform area. Based in MoD Abbey Wood, Bristol, the Design Services Group (DSG) Platform Safety Engineer reports to the Platform Safety Team Leader, and is responsible for:

a. Maintenance of the Platform System Safety Live Files.
b. Co-ordination of Platform contributions Submarine Safety Certificate Submissions.
c. Ensuring design change activities are assessed for the impact on the platform safety case.

The DSG Platform Safety Engineer will be responsible for the successful delivery of their assigned tasks, from contract generation through to client acceptance and final delivery.

They will be capable of both developing technical solutions and managing sub-contractors and will have the ability to manage programme, technical and safety requirements.

They will possess the skills to deliver to time, quality and budget, working flexibly and under minimal day-to-day supervision.

They will be required to deal with MoD clients and sub-contractor representatives and will be able to communicate effectively at a variety of levels.

Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Experience:
� Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering based discipline or HNC (or equivalent) qualified with relevant experience with suitable experience of design, operation and/or Submarine support.
� Completion of the Ship Safety Management (SSMO) Course and Nuclear Introduction Course (NIC) is preferred but not essential.
� The post holder should be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (preferred), or working towards registration under a monitored professional development scheme.
� Good team working and project management skills, together with excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for this post.
� This position will be based at MoD Abbey Wood and will require working at SSMG Keynsham as appropriate to the tasking.
� Although based in Bristol travel within the UK will be required.

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
